Body Rituals Day Spa

I tried Body Rituals for a mani/ pedi for the first time. I have to say the spa looks great. Warm and inviting. However this was not a great mani or pedi. Very little massaging of hands or legs. Polish did not go to the end of the nails, so it will not last very long. Waited quite a few weeks for this appointment. To say the least it is the same , if not worse than going into a walk in salon for less. more

I've been going to Body Rituals for over a year now. I see the owner Laureen C. for facials and she's just awesome. I have oily yet sensitive skin that can both break out and dry out easliy and I find Laureen to be extremely thorough and knowledgeable. My skin looks and feels great. I had the best facial I would totally recommend it to anyone. I had a Ultrasonic Facial by Antonella, she was great! She used this machine to clean my skin out, I've never really had anything like it, but it got rid of every blackhead I had. My skin looked great afterward. I used to be a local to MA, but recently moved to Atlanta. This past week, I have been back home, and decided to go see my good friend Jack at Body Rituals. He rocks! I work in the salon and spa industry, and travel a great deal for both work and pleasure. whenever i go away, i get a massage. Being in the industry, i get very tight, and can expereince great massages at my own palce of work, but sometimes its nice to go out and actually enjoy being treated as a guest, instead of as a friend. I haven't been to Body rituals, or to jack, in a year since i moved. He rememebred me right away, and was so hapyp to see me! not only did he give me a great massage, he gave me the best massage i think hes ever given me! I literally was start to drool, when it was time to flip! I have really no complaints! Great head massage, great back massage, AWESOME leg massage ( literally feels like your calves melt off your bones), chest massage, arm massage (one of the few who does an amazing HAND massage), and neck massage. I think the only area that i wish could be a smidge better is the foot massage, but its at the very end, and I don't know if he doesn't like feet, or there isnt much time, but it tends to feel rushed. Thats ok though.. I'm usually half uncnoscious at that point!!! One note to make though!! This place doesn't take gratuity on credit cards, so make sure to bring cash!!! I would not recommend this spa. Although it may look nice on the inside, the quality of service I received when there in Nov was very unsatisfactory. Three different times, she uncovered my female body parts were wihtout covering them up immediately, she leaned ontop of my legs more than once and the scrub included no type of massage. I have been to multiple spas and have to say this was my worst experience so far. I called the spa to advise how unhappy I was with my body scrub, and never received a return phone call. It is as if they do not care about their customer's happiness with their experiences. The scrub was quick and didn't include much, I was tense the whole time. I couldn't wait to get home and shower. I"ve always gone to newbury st to have my facials, because I thought that was the plce to go! Until I discovered Body rituals. It was better than what I got on Newbury st. It was more affordable and the parking was easier. The woman doing my facial was very informative and she had a very nice touch at that. (I recommend antonella) she was great! I also had a hot stone massage for the very first time and felt like I was in heaven! I definitely give this spa Two Thumbs up. I will be back... Pros: Parking, service,ambience. more

This day spa is close to my house and I have gone 4 or 5 times. The first time I went about a year ago I had a very though and relaxing facial and a fantastic massage. Fast forward to this year. I made an appointment for a classic facial, once I was in the chair, the woman told me my skin would do much better with a hydro facial, which happened to be about $30 more, I agreed, thinking she knew best. This was the opposite of relaxing, I had water all over me, it HURT my face and my skin looked worse afterwards- She recommended that I switch to skin products with salicylic in them, used twice a day. I listened to her suggestion. My skin continued to worsen for the next 3 wks- I got a gift cert to go back there after Christmas so I got a refresher facial, a spa pedicure and an hour massage. This time my facial was great. I was told that the hydro facials only work when used consistently for 6-12 visits! And also, that all the salicile acid was causing my sensitive skin to flare up and break out! The spa pedicure was fantastic but the massge was the worst I have ever received. The room was cold, the lights were to high, the massage therapist was chewing gum and drinking water the whole time. I have 3 herniated disks in my back, which I told them when I called and I told the woman when she bagan. Half way thru the massage dhe told me it made her 'nervous' that I had a back injury. Not what you want to hear when you are paying 100 for a therapudic massage. She started me on my back, face up which was very uncomfortable. She asked a million times about the pressure and tryed to keep up a conversation with me for the whole hour. I finally pretended not hear her. She seemed very inexperienced and umprofessional. This is my favorite place to unwind and escape life for a few hours! Sometimes you just need to be a little pampered and they will take care of you! Massages, pedicures, manicures, facials and body treatments all done with professionalism and great attention to detail. Relaxing, stress-free atmosphere.
