Great for seeing Imax films, but ill equiped to deal with the public/large crowds 8/6/2008

We've been to see Harry Potter and enjoyed ourselves. We realized though they have a make shift concession stand andaren't like a regular theater.\r So we decided to go this weekend and see Batman. Rule number 1- buy your tickerts online. We did not and nowhere on their site, on their door, at the parking that cost $8 did it say sold out all shows. We get in line, which they moved us twice back and forth in and were there for 10 minutes (they are super slow) before someone asked if the show was sold out. After several I think so, they said yes and 1/2 the line left. \r \r IMAX, train your people. I realize they may be volunteers for the museum but if you are going to run first run major films have some consideration for your customers. \r We left, did not get out money back for 15 minutes of parking and am sure we won't be back soon. more

Not worth $7 7/7/2008

Beautiful building, and the Imax is nice, but do not expect to find Texas history the way you learned it in school, or expect to learn anything new. There is definately a REVISED history told here with a slant. more

Worst IMAX Theater in Texas 9/22/2007

You would think, especially with their proximity to UT, that this IMAX would balance the Texas educational presentations with popular mainstream movies. But unfortunately Austinites still have to drive to San Antonio or Houston in order to see the major marketed and anticipated IMAX movies. Sad for a city this size. An e-mail response from the Bullock IMAX said they can't arrange for the mainstream movies because they have to guarantee a certain number of showings, etc. Odd, they still get a few big regular movies, but never anything to violent. They censor anything too fun for fun's sake. Pros: It's an IMAX! Cons: Poorly managed. more

Love Imax But Selection Sucks 7/9/2003

Imax is always the way to watch movies...too bad the Bob Bullock imax doesnt get a current selection of newe movies .... the matrix reloded is out on imax and i would give my left hand to watch the movie!!!!!!!. Pros: Parking, Seating, Atmosphere Cons: Movies, Price more

One Thing is missing... 1/5/2003

This is a very nice theater from the Screen, to the sound to the seating. The only thing missing is the FILMS transferred into IMAX format. Where is Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, Disney's Lion King. For some reason the management Does Not think it would be benificial to show the 'longer' films. Am I the only that thinks they are wrong or????? Pros: Film Quality, Not crowded weekdays Cons: Ltd. # of film titles more

It's Great! 12/29/2002

Austin needed this museum. Austin needed an IMAX. Great place to take out of town guests. The permanent exhibits can get to be a bit much for kids after a few visits. A lot of reading to really appreciate the exhibits. Overall, it's a great place. It's beautiful! informative, educational, fun, etc, etc. more

Great 12/3/2002

Everything is beautifully presented. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the movies are great... I don't recommend coming to see an IMAX movie in the morning on a weekday, though.. there are usually lots of school groups visitiing. Pros: good value, educational, exciting Cons: can be crowded, good parking more

bad, bad, bad 11/20/2002

the content is not that interesting, the display lights often block the placards so you cannot read descriptions without moving around a lot. it's just not that good. i think the institute of texan cultures in san antonio is better, even though the bullock museum does have more current/recent-event items Pros: in austin Cons: ostentatious more

The best 10/2/2002

I couldn't say enough nice things about it. I love museums but this has to be one of the best history museums...in any state! more

Awful !!!! 9/25/2002

The worst museum I've ever visited, and I've seen a lot. It's tiny, has barely any decent objects, and woeful displays. Don't go, trust me. Pros: Easy parking, Sounds interesting Cons: Pathetic displays, Really boring!!!! more

More Than a ""Quick Trip"" 9/1/2002

It could take days to fully explore all that's offered here (although that could get a bit of expensive). Great, varied exhibits. Pros: Variety of Exhibits, It's Texas, It's #1, Central Location Cons: Tickets a little high, Crowded more

It's culture 6/27/2002

The museum is interesting, but not worth the entrance fee. The IMAX on the other hand definitely earns it's ticket price. All in all it's a good place to find wholesome fun and add a little culture to your life. more

Star is born 5/16/2002

Leave it to Texas to fit as many stars as possible into one building. Don't get me wrong, the IMAX theater is very cool, but this museum seems more like a ""Hooray for Texas"" place rather than a ""History of Texas"" place. more
