I always have a drink here after work. I would love to take my co-workers here for a breather and catch-up with my friends as well. This place is one of the best around.

Horrible service and bad management...we were there for 5 hours this evening sitting outside in the roped off area -group of 8 adults along with my 7yo and my 17yo. The 17yo left...

Fun place, good food 3/8/2012

My boyfriend and I really enjoy hanging out at Boardwalk Billy's, whether we are going to grab a quick drink or a nice dinner. It has a really comfortable atmosphere with two patios, so you don't feel like you're in too nice of a place. There are peanuts on the floor and you really get the feeling of being in a beachy-dive bar. There are some really great food options on the menu such as crab legs and steam pots as well as burgers and wings. It's a great variety to suit any mood that you are in. They have a full bar, great drink specials. I have never had a bad experience with any server or meal that we purchased. I highly encourage that you go check it out! Pros: null Cons: null more

A Shuckin' Good Time! 4/6/2011

My wife and I met there while we were both still in college. We continue to go back there because of the great atmosphere, food and drink specials. I love the ribs! Not too sure what it is that they do to them, but they are always tender, smokey-sweet and delicious. My wife enjoys the chicken & fruit salad with the honey herb vinagrette dressing. The crab con queso is one of their signature appetizers and you will find yourself scraping the bottom of the bowl with the last of your nacho chips. Outside this is a great place to people watch from either of their 2 patios, indoors it is a great place to watch a game. I am originally from PA but i'm still able to keep up with the Eagles & Phillies because they have the NFL & MLB package! more

Charlotte's Best Ribs and oysters 3/8/2011

Just have to say I had the time of my life with the friendly staff at Boardwalk Billys by the University. Food was fantastic and i have never been serviced so well. I will be going back this weekend! Oh yeh, a lot of hotties too! more

My Favorite Place 3/3/2011

This place is great. Awesome patio, great staff and good food to boot. I can bring my kids in during the day to see the ducks, and then come back with my wife and friends the same night for dinner, drinks and usually a band. These guys do it right. Love it! more

The Many Faces Of Boardwalk Billy's 6/3/2010

UNCC Alumni here and if you are like me you probably spent some late nights at Boardwalk Billy's. I have two small children now and decided to check Boardwalk out again for their family night. Boardwalk Billy's Raw Bar & Ribs is HORRIBLE 8/3/2009

Horrible service and bad management...we were there for 5 hours this evening sitting outside in the roped off area -group of 8 adults along with my 7yo and my 17yo. The 17yo left to go pick up her friend and when they returned -they would not allow her to rejoin our table because she was not 21. They made her STAND outside the roped area. This made no sense at all since she had been there all evening long and the 7yo was still sitting there at the table. I will never give them another dime of my money. What a bad business decision!!! more

This place can be a little loud but has a good energy. The menu has many good choices and the beer/drink list is extensive. I always have a good time here. more

Great spot for lunch 1/25/2009

I love the lunch menu at Boardwalk billy's. My favorite meal is the chicken tender wrap or salad. But only if the chicken is covered with the "super s$%# hot sauce" Great food and a good price. Really nice boardwalk style patio over the University Lake. Great spot to come during the summer to people watch. Pros: Chicken, PEANUTS! more

Whether you want to grab lunch or go for dinner or socializing, Boardwalk Billy's is great. The food is good, it's reasonable and it's awesome during the warm months. There is plenty to do close by, the shopping is great.\r \r Definitely recommend. more

Fun place to hang out 10/27/2008

Great place to kick back with a few beers and some oysters. It does get crowded quickly and doesn't have much seating but it is a very lively place. Lots of stuff to do around the area as well. more

Got identification? 7/27/2008

Supposed to be a hot spot in University City? Think again. I recently relocated to Charlotte and my family came down to visit me. My sister and I tried to walk in to the bar, but she was denied entry because she had an out of state identification card, and not a North Carolina identification card. She is of age and was denied for having an out-of-state id card. How can a bar do that when they are located next to a hotel? How can a bar turn away someone for being legal to drink thorughout the country? Why would I ever go back there? more

Great Atmosphere 4/6/2008

Just a great place to hang out. Good beer, Low Country Boil is fantastic. Prices are good and there is always a coupon in local papers, etc to make prices even better. Peanuts are a nice touch. Pros: Service, food hot and beer cold Cons: Noisy inside at times. more

Smokey 2/16/2008

Oh, my GOD!! This place is so smokey..I can't even enjoy the food. Which is great by the way. I love the buffalo chicken salad...I crave for them on a daily basis...but the smoking is horrible. When I leave I have the smell of cigarettes on me for days. more

I would reccommend boardwalk billys because of the coconut shrimp. Also it sits out on the lake at university where the view is nice especially in the summertime. My only complaint is it can get a little smokey. more

Great Service, Specials & Beer Selection 8/3/2006

This place really is one of the hidden jewels of Charlotte. The staff is exceptional, the food is cheap (so is the beer) and the atmosphere is AMAZING. Any day of the week you can go schmooze with the local college crowd. On the weekends they have live bands and are always busy. Its a great place for kids before 9pm too. The view is amazing...over the lake at university. I would reccomend this to anyone looking for a great bar atmosphere at night and family dining during the day. It boasts 25 different beer on tap as well as a fully stocked bar and seasoned bartenders. The food is pretty good too. Especially the seafood. It really is American food. If your looking for a good place to relax and eat some comfort food this is the place for you. Pros: Staff, Beer Selection, Dining Area & Crowd Cons: mosty fried food & limited selection after 10pm more

Where do i start? Maybe its the five dollar lunch special. Maybe its the daily drink specials. All together boardwalk billys is the place to be in the university area. You could look at the hott women who wait tables there, or you could ask for Sonny B. The best server in the joint. Whatever you prefer, you will have a great time.
