I live on the Main Line and have always wanted to try out Blush. The ambience was very cozy, yet airy. It was a warm night and outdoor seating was also available. They have a Jazz band on Thursday nights which just furthered added to the enjoyable experience. In addition they poured free glasses of champagne and went around with horsdeouvres in honor of their one year birthday and a local bridge finally opening. A 5 course tasting menu normally $75 was offered for $50 as a special. The chef comes out to speak with the table to determine likes/dislikes, any food allergies, etc. to prepare customized courses for the table. Although I didn't order the tasting menu, I thought this approach was very unique. There was a nice selection of basic items on the menu prepared very uniquely. Some places try too hard to be different by offering elaborately prepared dishes of rabbit and quail which fall short. I ordered the half Lobster tail as an entree which was amazing. It was infused with vanilla which gave it such a smooth taste and it was so tender. You would think a trendy place like this would have smaller portion sizes but they were very ample (a big plus for my boyfriend). I had a simple berry assortment for dessert but the fresh cream and pomegranate yogurt sauce it was served with made it decadent. I like how the food was not overly seasoned or salted which many chefs have a tendency to do. The only negative of the meal was the tuna ceviche. I always order ceviche when a restaurant has it on the menu because it's a favorite of mine. The preparation at Blush was more like sashimi without the rice, and the tuna was very fatty and not that tender. The ceviche I've ordered at other places is always cut up in smaller pieces and mixed in with diced peppers, onions, etc. and very well seasoned. Overall though the experience at Blush was a good one. We'll definitely be going back.
Pros: ambience, friendly staff, menu selection, lobster, dessert
Cons: tuna ceviche
