Bluebonnet Trails Community Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center was formed in 1996 through an interlocal government agreement among the six counties of Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Lee and Williamson in Texas. The center was legally established as a community MHMR facility in 1997 by the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation. It is governed by an eight-member volunteer board of trustees. Bluebonnet Trails provides services to adults with serious mental illness; to children and adolescents with serious mental illness or emotional disorders, autism or pervasive developmental disorders; to persons with mental retardation; and to infants and toddlers with developmental delays. The center annually provides mental health services to more than 10,000 people. It maintains a staff of nearly 340 individuals and contracts with independent service providers. Bluebonnet Trails provides diagnostic assessment, symptom management, respite care, vocational training, counseling, living skills training and 24-hour crisis services. The center is located in Round Rock, Texas..
