Enjoyed 4/4/2014

Carmel Valley is a great contrast to Carmel by the Sea. I enjoyed visiting both, but was very glad to stay at Blue Sky Lodge for its vintage, rustic charm. Very old school hotel/motel, but has a nice pool and hot tub. Very friendly family has been running it for multiple generations, and they have the true California charm. Rooms also have a private sitting area with privacy fences. Surrounding restaurants, Toast and Rustica, we're also good. more

Dogs loved it 3/26/2014

Comfortable, easy going, great tree to read under - not too la te dah so we were able to walk with our dog, play Frisbee and feel @ home. Not the Hyatt, but we weren't looking for that style or price! Family owned laidback, charming lodge - you can walk to wine tasting, Holman ranch and residential areas the patios are spacious and private, not the usual 3X2. There's a big field that was to be a take off and landing pad back in the day, when people wanted to fly in, now it's accessible and you can play ball or Frisbee with your dog. LOVED it - not fancy more

Jazz festival 3/18/2014

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Blue Sky Lodge for a weekend during the Monterrey Jazz Festival. We stayed in a suite as it was the last available and our rooms where like a time capsule from the 60's. Shag carpet, a harvest gold refrigerator, and an ashtray in every room. Great quiet location close to Carmel valley village. The only challenge was that the room smelled like cigarettes. A little gross but in line with the period theme. more
