As important as the dedication to authentic barbeque, is the consistency of the product -- all products -- at all the Blue Ribbon locations. Perhaps the food deserves better than it gets in the way of ambiance -- it is great food that happens to have humble origins -- but this is hardly a drawback. It's best to take it out and eat it at home, where you have some control over the setting. But in a pinch, or if the need for barbeque is tantamount, the outlets (including the less well-known one in the Cambridge River St. Bread & Circus) are clean, well-lit and cleverly, if cheaply, decorated.
