If you ever wanted to try a tapas bistro or to go for a drink after work to a pleasant place with very nice decorative work, good service, and excellent kitchen in terms of balanced spices and taste, that would be one of your good bets.
I have tried several tapas from their menu including but not limited to: hummus (rating: 3 out of 5), paella valenciana w/ seafood (4 out of 5), fried calamari (rating: 3 out of 5), grilled rack of lamb (rating: 5 out of 5). I must say that pretty much everything about their drinks (martinis, red wine, beer) is good and served properly, but the kitchen, especially for someone who knows Mediterranean specifics, can't get a 5-out-of-5 rating.
Partially due to the size of the portions. Generally, tapas come in small appetizer-like servings, but having tried tapas at other places comparable to this one, I might say BlueGrotto's portions are rather small. Also, their cook knows how to prepare marvelous grilled meat, especially lamb, but frying isn't his strong suit. The seafood selection is ok, but nothing spectacular.
Overall, excellent place for a drink in a casual atmosphere with nice dimmed lighting and pretty blue-ish decor.
