Blue Dog Ranch ROCKS! 1/10/2011

We love Blue Dog Ranch! They saved the day when it came to boarding our English Bulldog and Boxer at last minutes notice. Not only was the staff courteous and friendly, but exceptionally helpful when it came to our last minute crisis of trying to board our dogs during the holiday madness. Upon arriving at Blue Dog Ranch and never having visited before, my husband and I were both impressed with the large outdoor play yards and the swimming pool. Everything was clean, tidy and unlike our previous boarding facility, smelled urine-free! Our Boxer has some medical conditions which requires her to be on a borage of medications. Blue Dog Ranch had no issues with administering these to her, and followed my instructions exactly as I asked them to. Our English Bulldog was overdue on his Bordetella vaccines when we dropped him off, Blue Dog offered to administer this to him on site! This was such a life saver, as most places would have rejected him and sent us back to our vet's office to get it. When we went to pick them up, both of our dogs didn't seem to want to leave. It was obvious that they were well cared for and had a good time. We will definitely be back! I highly recommend Blue Dog Ranch to all. You won't be disappointed!!! more

Thank you for saving my doggie Astro! 8/21/2010

Blue Dog Ranch, how can I ever thank you enough! You saved my dog and you saved my soul. My dog was wrongly judged and evicted from Los Angeles City limits. I needed a loving home for him until I could find a permanent placement for him. You gave him a home and made an endearing post of him on the internet. Thanks to your post Astro found a new home in Chico where he runs free on an almond farm and loved by the entire community free of pitt racism. You made him available to me for walks after hours and always welcomed my visits. Thank you 100 times over! more

Lost my sister's dog 4/29/10 5/4/2010

My sister dropped her dog off there and within 2hrs- lost the dog. This dog was the world to my sister and she hasn't slept since. We were told that the jack russel terrrier (Max) jumped a fence- then the owner called 5 days later and told my sister that a self closing mechanism was placed on a gate...? Dog was lost 4/29/10, white jack russel terrier with a black left ear. His name is Max and we hope that he is safe. The facility is offering a $1000 reward. Other kennels in the area say it's not their first lost dog- beware! Cons: You'll be missing a family member more

A Home Away from Home- No problem in 3 years! 4/18/2009

I've boarded my overly active dog at this facility for 3 years and have NEVER had anything other than a positive experience from Blue Dog. My dog is happy upon arrival and hasn't exhibited signs of stress upon pick up. Pros: Flexible, Communicative, Loving, Respectful Cons: Wish I could pick up on Sundays- I want to see him ASAP more

WORST KENNEL EVER ... MY DOG CAUGHT KENNEL COUGH AND IS STILL SICK 1.5 YEARS LATER 5/7/2007

well, all I can say is DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DAY AT THIS PLACE. It has been over a year now and my dog is still sick from the Kennel cough he caught at that place, I have spent over 1000$ in medicine, x-rays, B L O O D tests with no result, he can not run anymore without coughing and chocking, they stole my little happy dog from me!!!! When we went to this place, we asked for a tour, they said they could not give us a tour because it was too early and they haven't cleaned yet. I thought it was understandable back then, but when I picked up the dog two weeks later, he was full of mud and poo, lost weight, and they had even left him outside during the month of January (and I have a Lhasa BTW). They take pictures and show people (even if they did) the main house, but if you walk a few doors down, you see some other run down houses where they actually keep the dogs once the owners leave, dont take my word for it, go to that street and see for yourself. All I want is that no other dog gets sick there again, so please do not leave your dog there! to top it off, when I called them and complained about the condition of my dog, they gave me a 100$ refund though they said we are just being nice and that we are not admitting to any wrongdoing, what business gives money back unless they knew they were to blame? I regret not sueing them, I should have! Cons: Unhealthy, Unsanitary, Expensive, Outdoors!!, DO not do it. more

Awesome, loving treatment and respect of my pets...... 3/20/2007

I am so grateful for such an awesome, safe, relaible environment in which to board my animals when the need arises. I have a sweet but neurotic dog who hates being anywhere but home, but when I leave him in the care of the people at Blue Dog, I know he will be catered to. I can tell by his behavior when I pick him up that he has been content. The staff is super attentive, the facilities cleaner than any boarding facility I have ever seen, and their prices are almost too low( don't tell them I said that, please). more

Caring & loving environment 2/3/2007

Over the last few years and given that I rescue dogs I have had to find a boarding facility while I was looking for homes. Blue Dog ranch has been a life saving facility, and I would never have been able to help so many animals without their incredible support. I feel totally comfortable knowing the dogs I have rescued are there as I know they are in a loving and healthy environment. Currently one of our dogs is there and even though I wish he had a home of his own I am happy to think of him at Blue Dog ranch in the meantime. more

Great personal attention to pets... 1/29/2007

As a result of unfortunate events in my life I had to have a dog boarded with Blue Dog Ranch for over 18 months. Needless to say the length of time was overwhelming for both of us. During that time the entire staff at Blue Dog Ranch was always watching out and checking her health weekly as she was an older dog. Without my asking she was getting bathed on a monthly basis, and walked twice a week. They took care of her so well that should I or anyone I know need to board a dog I would not go anywhere else. Thanks again for all the love and support you gave us through this difficult time. more

Responsible and caring boarding place 1/28/2007

I've used Blue Dog Ranch once so far & will use them again. In the past, I have not been comfortable with boarding my dogs anywhere, as I know it can be a stressful environment for them. However, once I picked my one dog up from being boarded there for three weeks I found that my discomfort was unfounded. When I went to pick him up, besides being happy to see me, he was very playful with the staff and me. He seemed like he actually got more attention than what I am able to provide him at home. Additionally, he came home cleaner than I left him -- since he decided to take a dirt bath the day that I dropped him off for boarding. When I picked him up, they had given him a bath. Pros: Clean, quiet kennels. Lots of attention. more

I board my dogs at Blue Dog 1/23/2007

I've boarded my dogs at Blue Dog ia few times over the past year. When I first started, they gave me a tour right away. I can't imagine boarding my dogs anywhere without seeing the place first - like the first reviewer said happened to him. The dogs receive a lot of attention, the place is very clean and the staff is professional and courteous. They have large indoor and outdoor kennels and the dogs all receive plenty of 'play' and socialization time. Pros: clean, staff, not very expensive more

don't go there 5/29/2006

we took our dog to blue dog last christmas for boarding. when we asked for a tour of the place, we were refused and was given some lame excuse... they claim to be a cage free boarding place. however, when we pick our dog up, he was in another facility than the one they told us he was going be at.. he was put in a cage OUTDOOR in muddy ground!!.. our dog was in horrible condition when we picked him up, his fur was covered with poo, and he was sick for weeks.... if you love your dog, please don't go there. more

Choose another kennel. 5/24/2006

They put on a pretty face, but this place is understaffed, and your dog will sit in a kennel the entire time they are there. more
