First of all let me say, I grew up working in a restaurant. My parents own one in Arizona and I know the troubles that go into it. I have worked as a waitress for a very long time, so I am very understanding of servers. I leave a generous tip and am always very polite.
So, having this said, My experienced at Blue Corn Cafe & Brewery was very frustrating. The service was bad. My waitress was nice (at first) but seem to ignore and avoid my table the whole time. I waited 20min till she took my order, (again, I'm very understanding when a restaurant gets busy, you have to wait. But it wasn't), Beer took another 20mins and the past few times I've been there its been warm. Food was yummi and it came in 10min! :)
Then, it went down hill from there. I drank all my water and end up drinking everyone else water because I hadn't got a refill yet. When we finished our food, and immediately we got our check.
Then sat there for 30 MINUTES!!!!!! (I timed it) waiting to pay!!! There was a table sitting right next to us that came in after us and left 30 min before us (They got there check that same time we did). It seem all the tables left around us and we sat alone in the corner, waiting. Our waitress was no where to be found. She was in the kitchen for very long periods of time, and if she wasn't there, she was talking orders from her new costumers that sat down. She glanced our way several time and seem to ignore that I wanted to pay and leave (I tried to make it obvious without being annoying or rude)
So, after 30min of sitting there with only two glasses of empty water at our table, I left cash and walked out. I felt very humiliated, frustrated, upset, and judge (mainly, because I'm a young adult who wasn't the cute old ""wealth-looking"", white couple (who she went out of her way to help). SO YES, I hate to say it, but discriminated against.)
Like I said, I understand how hard it is as a waitress. But I never judge any of my customers or make them feel terrible unless they are obsessively are rude (I've had customers that made me go hide in the back and cry, and I still tried my hardest to be nice.)
What I should have done was talk to the manager, but I was done at that point. That being said, I have had bad service and had some really great one too, Ive had amazing food and really bad food at times, BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IVE EVER WANTED TO GO STRAIGHT HOME AND WRITE A REVIEW ABOUT HOW AWFUL I FELT LEAVING THIS PLACE. (so went out of my way to write this and even created a account just to get let other people have a understanding about my experience at Blue Corn) Again, food was good and got there fast, but service made me feel very unwelcome.
