Blakes On Telegraph

If I could give negative stars I'd give it 5. Their venue seems split with some of the patrons resenting the live music, and the people enjoying the live music resenting the dance music/loud TV going on upstairs. My biggest complaint was the service, which was downright rude, horribly and surprisingly rude without compassion. The food was reasonably priced, but prepared to be hounded if you don't tip (which is what some of us have to do in this rough economy and we're broke). I was there to support a friend who was playing a show, but I don't expect I will be going there again, but on the off-chance I do, I will be eating at Naan and Curry's next door. I would not be horribly disappointed if I read that the building burnt to the ground. more

I went to Blake's last night on Telegraph st. in Berkeley. They were having a CD release party for some hip hop artists and my roommate let me tag along with him. It was a pretty cool place to have a live show. The live music area is in a basement like part of the club, and they have a full bar and stage down there. However, the staff was rude and the upstairs bar had one of the slowest, crappiest bartenders I've ever seen. They were also very anal about ID's because it was an 18+ show, so they made everyone scan their ID's every time they wanted a drink. more

I stop by here once in a while to get a drink or two. First of all, let me tell you that Blakes on Telegraph isn’t a very clean place. I am not too fond of the bartenders because I don’t think they’re very friendly. The beer is pretty good. Everything here is cheap though, and I have grown really fond of their fries. more

Blakes is one of the well known places out here in Berkeley and throughout the bay area. They have live bands playing here usually on the weekends and its packed with a good crowd. Blakes is a couple blocks away from UCB so you know it'll be packed with a lot of students that attend the college. Service is good but parking sucks unless you want to pay at the garage a block down. I've been here a couple of times and I would highly reccomend the place for a night out. more
