Blakehurst Retirement Community in Towson is beautiful with many wonderful amenities. The staff is very helpful and focused on customer service, and the management really has a heart to serve their residents. I also love that there is a restaurant & cafe on site, which is also open to the public. The food is well prepared, American style cuisine & reasonably priced, especially for the upscale look & feel of the place! One of the unique features about Blakehurst is the fitness center, with a great schedule of unique group exercise classes, not found in most gyms, and tailored well to the resident population & health concerns. The gym staffs two fitness professionals who are available for one on one training & their expertise and training background is impressive! If you're looking for a retirement community with all the bells & whistles this is the place!!! more

Me and my husband already chose Blakehurst Retirement Community, but we haven't moved in yet. The community not only has assisted living but it also has independent living and memory care, and we will start with independent. They have nice and bigger apartments with lots of choices. They are cheaper compared to the ones we looked at. The staff are very helpful. They would do anything for us to get us move there. They have many activities. They have the most beautiful grounds, they have an exercise room, they also have a pool for exercise and for swimming. They have 30 different organizations that you can belong to. They have doctors and a podiatrist on site. Definitely, I would recommend it. more

Our father was a resident of Blakehurst Retirement Community for the last 2 years of his life. He first lived in a beautiful independent living condo, then in assisted living after a stay in nursing care. Everyone I ever met who worked there was friendly, kind, and helpful. They seemed to take a personal interest in our dad and offered guidance and support whenever we needed it. By the time Papa was in assisted living, we were somewhat distraught and confused by what we could do to help him in his elder years, and the staff, particularly Michele, was wonderful. I can't imagine better support for him than this. The community itself is beautiful. Every hallway, every entry area, every garden area is beautiful and carefully tended. Sincere effort has been made to make this feel like welcoming, comfortable home environment. When it is time for me to live with more care, I would knock down the door to live here. All around, this is a wonderful place with lots of great folks living there and working there. I highly recommend it. more

I think everything here at Blakehurst in Towson would be five stars. The staff couldn't be nicer. The rooms are very nice, large, and airy. Their dining room is very nice, open, and airy. Their food is excellent too. They have a lot of activities there. They have an exercise room and a pool. They have lots of things to do. more

At the request of a relative who is considering Blakehurst, my sister and I dropped in to see the community. My first impression was that this had to be one of the nicest retirement communities I had ever visited. The staff member who met us was very graciously showed us around even though we did not have an appointment. Every area, rooms, common areas, dining room, pool were clean and beautifully decorated. There were many resident activities which seemed would fit everyone's tastes. As we were getting into our car in the parking lot a current residents relative parked next to us and expressed how happy her mother was living at Blakehurst. To me, this was the best recommendation of all! more

I am very pleased with Blakehurst Retirement Community, it's comfortable, the people are friendly, very courteous and the food is great. It's a different lifestyle and I don't have the responsibility of maintaining a home. I like the group singing and all the parties going on. more

The staff at Blakehurst Retirement Community were amazingly wonderful, so easy to work with, and accommodating, and helpful. They were so kind, they seemed to look at each situation individually. I would recommend them to anyone. They seemed to have an awful lot of activities going on all the time. The food would be a five, it was wonderful. more

We chose Blakehurst over the others mostly because of location. We thought my mother-in-law needed an apartment home at Blakehurst because it had the safest setting in the Towson area and provided a lot of flat ground outside for her to walk with ease. It was a continuing care in one place. You can age all the way through to your death there. They offer lots of exercise classes for the independent living, as well as for the assisted living and the skilled nursing. They offer a lot of outings for the independent people and for the assisted living people. The also have a shuttle bus. It has made my mother-in-laws life so much easier and more pleasant. more

Blakehurst Retirement Community in Towson is an incredible community. If I could pick a community, I would choose this place. It's a clear 5-star and the place is spotless and beautifully landscaped. The individual apartments were very attractive and spacious. The food was excellent and their dining room is very attractive. The staff who accommodated us was very nice and very friendly and she was able to give us a first class tour of Blakehurst. She was very knowledgeable too. They have different things were the residents could participate in. They also have bus trips where they go to different places. They also have swimming pool, libraries and all sorts of clubs. I would absolutely recommend this place! more

My mother has been a resident of Blakehurst Retirement Community in Towson for the past four months. She chose this community on her own before we even had to make the move. When I toured I fell in love with the staff & other residents. But I will be honest the price was also very appealing to us. I stayed with her the first 2 days and experienced it with her.... The food was great, homemade soup everyday. The staff was great and treated not only her like family but me also. more

My family found Blakehurst to be the perfect fit for my 72 year old aunt. This community has so much to offer seniors wanting to live independently, but with assistance and nursing care if needed. Well worth the expense, the apartments along with all of the amenities make us feel much more comfortable with her living in this community. There is an on site bank, laundry facility, grocery store, and salon. Transportation is provided for larger grocery trips, doctor's appointments, casual fun and entertainment, other communities, and just about any needs or wants for travel. The unit also is inclusive of cable connection, light housekeeping, and basic utilities. The staff is very friendly, polite, and supportive to the families. more

The staff are attentive, sincerely concerned with residents' well-being and do their very best consistently to make living at Blakehurst Retirement Community a positive and enjoyable experience for residents. I am comfortable that my mother is respected, cared for and about and enjoys where she lives day in and day out. more

Blakehurst Retirement Community in Towson is a fabulous place to live. Beautifully landscaped, amenities too numerous to name, neighbors who really know what it means to neighbor, stimulating activities for the mind, the soul and the body. What a great place to age. more

When my daughter and son-in-law drove me in to Blakehurst Retirement Community in Towson, I was so impressed with the manicured landscape and the beautiful building. I was even more impressed when I walked through the doors of Blakehurst and met all the friendly staff and residents. I thought to myself, "Even my mother would love this place, and she was very particular!" But, the best part of it all was when my daughter called me the next morning after my first night at Blakehurst and told me she had had the best night's sleep she had had since "Daddy" died because she knew I was safe. I have lived here for 3 years and I have met so many friends through all the great scheduled activities we have. From the first day I walked into the dining room, the residents were so warm and welcoming to me. Also, Blakehurst has allowed my spiritual life to be maintained by providing Bible study, Blakehurst church services and transportation to different churches. Lastly, I cannot leave out how professional and friendly the staff at Blakehurst is. It blows my mind that the wait staff can remember all of our names, and they always remember exactly what beverage we all drink. I just love it here! more
