(My unfortunate experience with Blade Runners is because they are hired by Reston Association to do grounds clean up for our neighborhood cluster- they are not supposed to be chopping down residents plants and killing them.)
On several three separate occasions, Blade Runner's workers took the liberty of needlessly cutting and overzealously hacking at plants and flowers from my personal property in the front of my home near my front steps. The latest incident was last Sat. and they severed a morning glory vine of mine in two and cut off all the leaves and flowers off the lower half of the plant. It used to be flowering beautifully around lamppost about 4-5 feet off the ground. (Note: It was not a mistake since I had clear stone edging around my plants and it happened at eye level, Not on the ground!) The workers were still in front my townhouse when I saw this had happened and when I confronted them, one of their workers confirmed and pointed out the member of their crew that done this specifically. I followed up with a complaint to Blade Runner's president Eric Storck, who refused to accept all accountability for this needless destruction. Despite the fact I saw this happen in person and that his own workers even confirmed they had done this, he tried to say he thought it was a deer who must done it!
Now, I know you dont know my place but the idea of a deer doing this is ridiculous to the point of being funny! Imagining this "deer" crossing our residential parking lot and hopping onto my sidewalk in front my front steps during broad daylight mid-Sat.- mind you, all while Blade Runners also just *happens* to also be there! (Yeah right BS!)
This type of incident has happened repeatedly, each time directly after Blade Runners came by- they love to mow and hack up plants!
Eric, the president, was full of excuses. First he tried to claim he "lost cell reception" and hung up on me in the middle of the complaint. Three days later he called back since I left a threatening message that I would contact the Better Business Bureau if he did not take action. Then he tried to claim it was an issue of confusion and listed a bunch of supposed rules about edging. Well, guess what? I have stone edging! No confusion, but rather, sabotage! When I emphasized it happened at eye level, he changed his excuse to it must have been a deer. Did he forget his workers already had admitted to doing this? Clearly unreasonable!
If you want to avoid this kind of BS happening to you, do not hire them and if your Cluster uses them, please encourage your Board to use a better company.
Ps If you are thinking about hiring them for snow services, they were also ill equipped and worthless. Last winter their landscaping truck "plow" couldnt handle the snow and our cluster wound up paying extra cash out of pocket to hire a real plow to plow our neighborhood out.
