Dr. Burkett really knows what's best for birds. Years ago, he recommended a flight cage for my canaries. I cleaned it to remove zinc, spray-painted it, and suspended it from the ceiling. The birds really need to fly, and guess what? If they fly, they sing. \r
Dr. Burkett also has great information on how to switch from your birds' pitching their seeds to a pellet diet, as well as drinking water from bottles (smaller bottles than what you'd put in your hamster's cage).\r
When my daughter was young, I'd bring her into Birdie Boutique to learn how to handle parrots, just like she was taught how to be around dogs and cats, so she'd not be fearful of them. That said, I'd not recommend that small children handle the birds. In any case, you want one of the staff to teach your child the best way to handle the birds.
