best bike shop around 2/16/2012

What I like most about Bike Attack is that they don't talk you into buying. There are working extremely nice guys, who are honest and very helpful. They really know a lot about mountain biking but they also sell cool Bianchi bikes or beach cruisers. If they don't have it in store, you can order it there or online. Really good service plus parking in the rear. My favorite bike shop! more

cool store across the street from Urth cafe 2/16/2012

I bought my Nirve there, they really have the coolest bikes around. The staff is very nice, not pushy and they give you good advice and help you. That's were the celebrities buy their bikes (like David Beckham!) as it is across the street from Urth cafe on Main Street. They even have an online store and parking in the rear. High end bikes, beach cruisers, even bikes for the little ones - go there with your family and you'll be all served perfectly well! Plus: the owners and the mechanics all know what they are talking about. You can also go downhill biking with them. Best bike shop ever! more

Great shop 2/11/2012

Well I'm a bike fanatic and so are they. I Love that place, bought 2 bikes there (Globe by Specialized and Bianchi Camaleone) and go there for air and service all the time. Pros: null Cons: null more

boutique bike shop 10/28/2011

This is a boutique bike shop, not your regular mainstream shop. They have the fanciest and best looking bikes I've seen. Prices are good, they match online prices. At least they did it for my friend. The people who work there all very nice, no phony car sales attitude. more

Famous bike shop 10/28/2011

I go to Bike Attack all the time with my girlfriends to check out the newest bikes. They are close to Urth caffe and you can see a lot of celebrities in there. The guys who work there are extremely nice and we like to chat with them. I bought my Linus bike at their store and they always give me free service, like brake adjustments. Pros: null Cons: null more

nice bike shop 6/7/2011

I bought my Bianchi Pista here and my nieces Phat cruiser. Prices are good especially if you are a club member and receive 10% off. The guys are nice and friendly and best of it: it's across the street from Urth caffe and they pump up your bike for free while you're eating desserts at Urth! more

Recommended 4/15/2011

I bought several bikes from Bike Attack Venice in the past and later went to their Santa Monica location, which is bigger and has a wider variety of bikes of all kind. I like the guys there and find them very helpful. They can be quite busy on week ends, but they still find the time to help me out. I appreciate this. This is not a corporation but rather a family owned shop, all of the guys are real riders (some race). They know their sh... more

Great shop! 3/11/2011

Bike Attack is the finest shop in town. Just look at the bikes they carry, nothing cheap and low end here. Prices are still ok, they tend to give good deals, just ask them. I got my Bianchi Pista Via Brera there. Awesome bike! more

Awesome bikes! 4/2/2009

I'm a fan of Bike Attack because they RIDE and don't sell you sh... Some might consider them expensive because they tell you what sucks and what doesn't. Their advise to buy a Intense Tracer instead of some 'made in china' bike worked for me. Besides: they also sell cheaper bikes. more

Good bike shop! 4/2/2009

I go in there at least once a month to see Eric, the owner and talk with him about the newest bikes and racing. Pros: The owner races, so he knows his stuff Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Good service department, sweet bikes! 3/7/2009

Full of good bikes, great deals and suuuuper friendly people. The only down side is that it can be very crowdy on summer weekends. The best is that they can order almost anything for you within a couple of days and their prices are very reasonable. Say hi to Frank, the best mechanic in town! Pros: good service, sweet bikes Cons: crowdy on summer week ends more

Rip Off Beware! 2/26/2009

I recently went in to the Santa Monica location for a routine brake job on my front brake. Half an hour later i am told and shown that neither brakes work or are fixable. Immediately after one of the "owners" tries to sell me brakes for "the best price." The prices he gave me were almost $200 more than most online bike mail orders, so I tell them I will hold off. Just then, the mechanic says "...uh let me try something I saw on the internet." All of the sudden the brakes work again WOW! I am out $40 for the mechanic time and my bike is exactly how it was when I brought it in. I ended up fixing the problem myself. I was referred to this shop by a few friends whom I have all told never to come here again. These guys are ridiculous, will act like your friend and will rip you off. My guess is that they are used to wealthy people coming in and spending anything no questions asked. I would not recommend this shop to anyone! Pros: Nice Shop Cons: Will Rip you off! Way overpriced more

Drove all the way from East Hollywood to buy from these guys 11/20/2008

I was referred to this place by a co-worker and I was looking for a quality bike at a good price. Eric from Bike Attack was very helpful in giving me information and wasn't pushy in trying to sell me something right away. I went to 5 other stores and decided to go back to Eric at Bike Attack because of his honesty and the great prices. Pros: Eric is the bombeezy Cons: I wish it was closer to where I live more

good guys, good bikes, good service 7/27/2008

I go to Bike Attack since they opened their smaller store in Venice 1999. They always treat me as a friend rather than a customer. The guys at Bike Attack love bikes, everybody there (even the owners) ride bikes and are part of several racing teams. They don't try to sell you something you don't need- or you can't afford. Their free lifetime service is the best service plan any bike shop offers and it is real. Pros: free lifetime service, 2 locations, parking in rear more

Bad, Ugly Attitude, Take your money elsewhere. 7/26/2008

We are lucky to have a lot of choices for bikes shops on the Westside. This once great shop has fallen hard from grace and is now staffed by obnoxious, surly, unprofessional losers.\r \r Called the Santa Monica store recently, asked if I could please speak to the owner or a manager regarding an ongoing problem with a defective part. I also wanted to get some quantity pricing info on an item for our team of 20 riders.\r \r The woman who answered the phone replied "You talk to me." \r I replied: "Oh, hi, are you a manager or one of the owners?" \r Woman at Bike Attack: "You talk to me." \r I reply: "Ummm, okay, ummmm, what's you name? Are you a manager?" \r Her reply: " YOU tell me who YOU are and you talk to ME." \r My Reply: "Wow. I'm guessing you are not a manger, shall I call back later?"\r \r The skank then hung-up the phone.\r \r Let's see, what I learned: Bike Attack, hires a-holes, if you get a faulty part you are screwed because they don't really want your business to begin with. Good, Solid Bike Shop! 4/17/2008

My wife Gloria and I have made the journey from the San Fernando Valley into Santa Monica just to come to Bike Attack, and it's worth driving past all our local bike shops to get there. We've recieved good advice, quality service, and feel we've gotten our money's worth and more. more

They are knowledable but could be better. 3/20/2008

PROS:\r Cheaper than other higher end places \r they do know what they are talking about\r Have variety- not JUST 800 + road bikes\r PARKING!! (but really, ya'll should be biking there- right!?)\r \r CONS:\r they offered a charity discount- but not on accesories\r A particular bike was sold at this discount but was still over the MSRP- not a good sign more

Best bike shop on the westside of Los Angeles 8/20/2007

I bought 2 bikes at Bike Attack beacuse my friends told me to go there and I did not regret it. They have the best selection of bikes and their service is the best. I tell everybody to go there and nowhere else to buy a bike. They have another loacation in Venice beach on the same street, which is their original location, but a lot smaller. Pros: Parking in rear more

Don't go anywhere else! 7/6/2007

Bike Attack is by far the best bike shop in Los Angeles ? BAR NONE. Erickson, the owner, built my bike from scratch. He?s awesome to work with and his crew is top notch. I used to go to Helen?s Cycles, but was sick of the impersonal service and lack of knowledge about their product. At Bike Attack you?re treated like one of the family. Pros: Service & Good Product more

Owner Message
  • Bike Attack was founded in 1994 in Berlin, Germany by US Downhill and BMX racer Ericson and his German wife in cooperation with the US Army.

Bike Attack served the US soldiers, their families, US embassy members and the allied forces with outstanding service and received several awards from the US embassy. When the US Army left Germany in 1995, Bike Attack was converted into a bicycle retail store for the German public and quickly became famous as a distributor for Merlin and Bontrager.

In 1999 Ericson and his wife moved their location to Venice beach and established quickly a good relationship with the community.
Bike Attack Venice also became a Germany distributor for Foes Racing, Hanebrink and Astrix and focused mainly on extreme downhill racing.

In 2005 Bike Attack opened a new boutique on Main Street in Santa Monica with Andrew Smith and it immediately received a great response from the neighborhood.

Through it's closed proximity to Urth Caffee, Bike Attack became quickly a favorite to LA's celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Owen Wilson, Adrian Brody, Gary Dourdan (CSI) Julianne Moore, Vince Vaughn, Mickey Rourke, Robert Trujillo (Metallica), John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Brandon Boyd (Incubus), LeAnn Rimes, David Beckham, Johnny Hallyday, Pamela Anderson and much more.

Bike Attack is now a full service bicycle store that emphasizes on friendly customer service, pro repair, bicycle & component sales from high end - beginners, specialized in urban cycling, mountain bikes, road bikes, track bikes, hybrid bikes, commuters, electric bikes and a wide variety of beach cruisers.

Bike Attack also has it's own downhill and cross country team and offers group riding and training classes for all ages, road and mountain.

Bike Attack is a platinum sponsor for the Aidslifecycle and offers 15% discounts for participants of Aidslifecycle and all licensed racers (Norba, UCI, Triathlon).

Bike Attack offers friendly support to community clubs like Critical Mass, LA Bike Coalition, Bicycle Kitchen, Bikerowave, Wolfpack, Midnight Ridazz and more.
