I went to layaway a sofa and recliner after being told at the battleground store that layaway was an option and for the items I wanted, but was sent to the high point rd store because they had it in stock. When I got there I was told that the items I wanted were discontinued and layaway wasn't offered. EVEN though the person at the store who I had just been too had called the high point rd store to verify the items were there had told me otherwise. I then called the DM of big lots only to be told I would not be given the opportunity to lay it away, nor would they give me any type of discount. He then called me back about 5 mins later to grill me stating he had the employee who gave me wrong information on the other line asking me if I was "sure" that's what he said. I was appalled that he had the nerve to speak to a customer that way. Then to make matters worse, he said the only thing he could offer me was $20 off a $1000 purchase. That wouldn't even cover the tax on the items. I told him i was offended that he had called me back to accuse me of lying and offended by his offer. What also pissed me off was that while at the store trying to lay it away, I talked a friend into purchasing a sofa and ottoman there that was discontinued and she was given 20% off because of all the aggravation I was caused. Even after telling the DM this, he still would do nothing. I will be writing a letter, sending emails, and calling the 1800 repeatedly until an apology or a resolution has been made. I will NEVER shop there again!!
And also, after hearing of this treatment, my friend will be returning the sofa and ottoman to the store Saturday!
