Amazing food, awesome people, incredible quality. Being from the Bronx, New York my husband and I saw this place, did our usual eye-roll and said ""yea ok, we'll see"". The best thing in the world to be wrong about, Big Apple Pizza was seriously just like home from the food to the owners. No BS, tell it like it is food and people...ahhhhhh, perfection in a store! If you've never been to NY and you can't tell the difference anyway, you won't be disappointed by any means. The food pops with flavor, the ambiance is comfortable and warm and the people are hilariously, no-holds-barred real. We have since left Nevada and are in the land of fruits and nuts in California but we stop in to the Big Apple Pizza shop every single time we are in the Reno area. Today was my first day of experiencing what a true slice of pizza tastes like. Not only was the food delicious, but the people working there are so fun and kind. Even though I had never been there before, I felt like I had been a valued customer for years. It is so welcoming. I even got to learn how to make homemade cheese. The best I have ever tasted. This is the best slice of pizza, calzone, hoagie rolls...ANYTHING YOU ORDER! You won't find a better place this side of New York that serves their food completely handmade in house, with a sense of humor only found in the East Coast, and for cheap! I got two slices of pizza today: one pepperoni and one cheese. After I ate it, the owner invited me to the back to see them make their own mozzarella directly from the curd. I highly recommend anyone and everyone to get out in Sparks on Baring Blvd and order from Big Apple Pizza. The food is absolutely delicious!! We ordered a pepperoni pizza, stromboli and a sub sandwich. Everything was soooo good - it was hard to stop eating it was so good. Great thin, NY-style crust. Stromboli was to die for - huge portions so we had leftovers. My mom has celiac disease and they had a very good GF pizza. They were so in tune with cooking GF... we had absolutely no worries about cross-contamination like you do when you go out to many restaurants. Very friendly staff - great interactions with the customers. We loved it! more

This is the best pizza place in Reno/Sparks by far. Everything is made fresh and they use quality products. They are from New York and have that New York ""toughness"", but they are awesome people and really great. If you want great pizza, you have to try them. after reading all of the great reviews and some of the bad ones, we decided we needed to try it ourselves. my husband is italian and his family came from italy and moved to new york. we have always wanted to try the new york pizza that everyone had been talking about and was excited that we had the chance to do so in nevada!! the second we walked in we were warmly welcomed and the staff helped us order their specialties. we had a half pepperoni and half sausage pizza. my husband does not like sausage and i dont care for pepperoni, however, it became our favorites!! the sausage wasnt rubbery and the pepperoni was just delicious. they also went out of their way to make our two boys feel special. now if your thinking this is going to be like dominoes or sauce like ragu your sadly wrong. this is the real authentic italiano way of making pizzas! so if your used to eating the fake stuff then stay there at dominoes but if your looking for the real deal, Big Apple Pizza is just for you! I went to Big Apple Pizza and had a 16 inch cheese pizza. Being from the east coast I can say that this is some of the best pizza I've had since i moved out here. Not only does the pizza taste like it's from NYC but the overall attitude and atmosphere of the restaurant reminds me of the great pizza restaurants from back home. This has become the only place I will buy pizza out here! more

WOW! No doubt the BEST pizza pies on the planet! So delicious, I ordered one to go. No heartburn like I get from other sauces. Everything is perfect! HOMEMADE EVERYTHING including the mozzarella!!! Ever feel like your lost in the shuffle when your looking for a good tasting friendly place to eat? I think we all have and I found a place that is not like the rest. The pizza is amaizing and so are the people. Their from NY but they treat you like your family not like your annoying them (like the other ny place in town). The food is wonderful and the pizza is authentic NY pizza. The sauce is tasty.. Give it a try you wont be disapointed! They have a full menu, something for everyone more

I tried Big Apple Pizza for the first time today. The crust was really, really good, and it was very cheesy and just greasy enough. It is not, however, my favorite pizza in Reno/Sparks. I love love love Nu Yalk Pizza on Kietzke, and someone recommended Big Apple to me because it's much closer. I'd say it's a second best, but definitley good and satisfying. The price was a little expensive, it was $27 for a large pizza. Overall, I was fairly pleased and satisfied with the pizza. Pros: cheesy, greasy, great crust Cons: price more

I read reviews about there pizza and was really looking forward to giving it a try. I ordered a Med half cheese and half pineapple and ham and was charged $20.00 for a very very small med. Then when I got home with it I was disappointed again. This has to be the worst tasting pie I have every had. If this is New York Style pizza, PLEASE SEND IT BACK TO NEW YORK. The sauce was so over powering you could not taste anything else. The crust was tough (And no I did not Microwave it), it was a struggle to get one piece down, and the rest went into the trash. All I can say is save your money and your taste buds! Go GET A FROZEN PIZZA from the store, you will be happier. Cons: Overpriced more

Joe I was there when you tried to EXTORT money from these People. They do an benefit every year for the police and firemen. They donate a free pizza for Donations for the Police and Fireman and their causes. Yet to see you there or the students to donate. I know you are busy extorting money from other people. more

They were very rude and they don't support the local school less than a mile from their store! That's just bad business when you know a lot of their business comes from the students. more

Wonderful surprise to go on a vacation & find a place that actually has a gluten-free menu (let alone a pizza place!) I had GF pepperoni pizza & my husband had the New Yorker (non gluten-free) pizza. Both were so fabulous we went back the next night for dinner again & had gluten free pasta dishes. Again the food was terrific and Jeanine & Todd were such fun to talk with. They made you feel right at home. Ordered pizza again to take back home along with a side of the Alfredo sauce that we were able to taste during one of our dinners. Highly recommend going there for Pizza, pasta and sandwiches. (Need 24 hr notice for gluten-free entrees so be sure to call ahead for those). My b/f, daughter and I all come from Central NY and I can verify, it is tough to find REALLY GOOD NY Pizza. There are a few places that come close, but this was the BEST! We got the White Pizza ....Alfredo, Ricotta, Spinach, tomato, garlic YUM! Also a kids Cheese. Todd let us try his wing sauce and fresh bread...also great! We were glad we went and will go back for sure. Our tab was about $40 for 4 beers, a refillable soda, a 16"" pizza, a 10"" pizza and a great time. $13 a person doesn't seem too bad to me.
