There are some decent sized bass here. Famous people, without naming names, have fished here.
There are fees, however. First, you need an Alabama state fishing license. You'll then need a daily fishing permit (costs $2). If you want to rent a boat, you also have to purchase a boat launch fee and life jackets, if you don't have your own. (it's not expensive; less than $10 for all , including paddles).
There is a bait shop on site that isn't too pricey. They also sell refreshments in another section of the store too. There are picnic tables, so you can just make a day of it at this lake with the family.
They are open sunrise to sunset:
Feb 1- June 30th: 6 days a week, closed on Mon.
July 1- Nov 3oth: open 5 days a week, closed on Mon & Tues.
Dec 1-Jan 31: the lake is closed.
They stock largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, and bream. There are size and creel limits of course that you'll have to obey.
It's an all around good lake, and produces nice sized fish.
