I have been to Beyond Spa several times but I will not return. A 50 minute massage is really a 40 minute massage. Appointment ""clock"" begins when you walk in the door....regardless that you are seated in a waiting lounge or prep time. I asked the receptionist about this and all she could say is "" I don't know"" and wouldn't make eye contact. Lame! Atmosphere is A+ plus that's about it.... more

Very Relaxing & Perfect 2/17/2012

I'm a bit of a ""Spa Snob"" so when I say this place is quite fantastic - you know you have to check it out. I think it's funny that the bad reviews on here are due to the fact that the clients were Late or otherwise inappropriate to the spa itself. \r \r I was right on time and I enjoyed a warm atmosphere with a heated neck pad - which smelled delicious. Remember this is a cheaper spa - so you aren't overpaying for the weird decor. It is very simple & quaint & makes you feel relaxed.\r \r Lori was very kind & has magic hands. She listened to me & ensured I got my full massage time - even though I had to take some time to fill out paperwork and explain my needs. \r \r I would recommend this place to ANYONE! more

Lacking professionalism-NOT relaxing 8/12/2011

I am not a spa snob--far from it. I am usually more than happy to frequent strip mall walk-in nail salons to have a mani-pedi, and have had great experiences with the technicians who work in these very affordable places. I expected more from Beyond Spa--for which we had to make an appointment, fill out a page of information upon arrival, and pay double the price ($40 for a pedi). For the most part, the staff was friendly and professional, and the ambiance was great (lighting low, nice music, excellent pedicure room). So here's why only 1 star: 1) Technicians should not talk your head off while doing a supposedly "relaxing" facial. A 50 minute facial *should* be relaxing. Instead, my face was washed and rubbed in a very vigorous manner--at times I felt my nostrils were being blocked, and it was difficult to get a breath in! Listening to the technician describe her worst experiences with clients was also nauseating. I don't need to hear what your standards are and why you're "so glad" the owner doesn't provide full body waxes or bikini line waxing, or that you may have extracted a pound of debri from a poor man's blackhead covered nose. This is just beyond classless, it is in extremely poor taste and very unprofessional. 2) I admitted to having a small bit of fungus under one of my large toenails (not an uncommon ailment). Wow, was that a mistake! This same technician felt it was her duty to tell me to go to the doctor (twice), and to really rub in the fact that I was somehow "infected and contagious" she wore plastic gloves throughout my entire pedicure! Not only that--early on she jabbed me a good one on a small toe and I exclaimed, "Ouch!" She proceeded to tell me I had very sensitive feet (no, I don't, I've had many vigorous technicians at cheaper salons really work my cuticles over without ever making me jump or shout out in pain). I watched with envy as my friend next to me enjoyed a plastic free pedicure, never exclaiming "ouch," and with more focus on relaxing massage and attention to detail in trimming nails and cuticles. By contrast, my technician seemed to be in a rush, and seemed grossed out by the slightest bit of dirt or calloused skin (let alone my small spot of under-the-nail fungus). The pedicure left me feeling judged. The facial left me feeling antsy. FAR from relaxing--which is supposedly the entire purpose of this place. I think I'll stick to the $20 deals in the strip mail salons. The search for a good massage/facial place continues... more

Spa Greatness 10/1/2010

I am a spa enthusiast. I have visited numerous spas throughout this area, as well as throughout many states and vacation areas. Beyond Spa remains one of my favorites. They have always provided me with great service. The staff have always been professional and more than willing to accomodate my needs. I first found this spa when I was about six months pregnant in January of 2004. The prenatal massage was just what any pregnant mother needs. I have continued to return to this spa often over the past 6 years. The price cannot be beat, especially based on the quality of services received. The environment is warm and relaxing and I would highly recommend this spa to anyone. more

A little slice of Heaven! 2/13/2009

My husband scheduled me for the Nervous Breakdown package.I arrived early as suggested by the receptionist when I made my appointment.I am a night owl so the fact that they are open until 9:00pm is great! I was greeted very professionally and kindly as I arrived. It's so strange to come through this rather small front entrance and when they take you back into the waiting area and place a heated and great smelling neck pack on you it seems like you've walked into another world.I was offered water plain or cucumber (I chose cucumber, quite tasty) and filled out some simple forms. Everywhere I went as I moved from place to place for different treatments was lit calmly with relaxing music playing and was decorated to a tee for relaxation. I was there for about three hours for my treatment and was treated with kindness and respect. The massage and facial therapists were professional and were very sensitive to my comfort level. I felt so pampered when I had my pedicure. I sat in a cosy chair and was asked if I would like another heated neck pack. I had pillows placed behind my head and at my low back and next to me was a stemmed glass with ice water and a slice of orange on the rim. She also brought an extra cup of water in case I grew thirsty while she attended to my feet. There was just a great attention to detail. I am now sending my husband in for a special treat because that is how I found my experience to be, "a special treat"! Pros: This is relaxation from the word go! Cons: When you are leaving the gift shop area is a little jarring to walk into. It doesn't seem to flow with the rest of the spa. more

Definitely Worth It! 7/12/2008

I was very impressed with the staff and the massage! My husband and I had a couples massage and it was wonderful!!! And the price didn't break the bank! It was somewhat hard to find because I didn't realize it was in a shopping center, but it's an instant transformation once you get into the spa! I would recommend this spa to anyone! Pros: Great price, great customer service, and great quality! more

Didn't get past the front desk...it was that bad 2/29/2008

have never left a spa less relaxed then when I entered the doors...until today. I was running late to my appointment, I called and was informed they would do what they could to accomodate my remaining time. Great. When I arrived I was informed I would be billed for the whole time. The cancellation policy is a half massage if you don't show. There were only 20 minutes of my 80 minute massage left. I asked "So it would have been cheaper for me to not show up?" I was abruptly told to sit. The front desk girls went to the back with the therapist and left the door open to discuss my "rude" behavior. When I addressed the issue that I had heard every word because the door had been left open I was informed I was mistaken. I was also told "Well maybe this isn't the Spa for you." I agree. I went to the spa to find relaxation instead was treated rudely, argued with and not listened to. The girl said "I am trying to be nice" You shouldn't have to try to be nice to a customer. My issue isn't with the cancelation policy, it is with the way I was treated. They could have stuck to policy and made me feel like they were bending over backwards for me, a simple. we are glad you made it, we can still get you in for 20 minutes, we will charge you for half time but are more than happy to get you in for what we can. I would have been happy, it was my personal issue that made me late. I understand they have to run a business, but what they do not have a right to do is to make a person feel worse walking out of the doors than they did coming in. There are some customers who are difficult to please no matter what you do, but to assume that anyone is that customer and treat them accordingly is bad business. Even if an irrate customer were out of place you can find ways to apease them or at least remain professional. I hope the spa looks into training their staff on proper customer service and the usefullness of shutting a door. Pros: The price looked good Cons: I never got to the massage because the staff was so rude more

Best money ever spent at a spa! 12/1/2007

This place is wonderful, although the location is weird. The staff is very friendly. I have been to quite a few spas in the area, and you really get a great value. I had a foot soak, pedicure and deep tissue massage. It was heaven on earth. If you are looking to get pampered but don't want to break the bank, this is the place to go. If you go there once and get on the mailing list, they send you coupons with awesome deals all the time. Lets face it we all need some pampering every now and then. I try to go quarterly. Cons: great value more

Good for the Price 2/4/2007

This spa is pretty nice for the location (in a strip mall). It is comfortable and nicely decorated. The greeting staff was very friendly, and called me by name when I walked in the door. I went in for a prenatal "Momma 2 be" massage. The massage itself was nice, but they were late bringing me into the room. I think I received about 30 mins of a 50 minute massage. So, I didn't think that was very good at all. They gave me a $4 discount because of it, but I am still a little annoyed about it. For the price, the place is very good. I might go back, I haven't decided yet. more

Like walking into a whole different world 12/22/2006

I was surprised by the environment change when I walked into this spa. There were very friendly, comfortable people that were willing to attend to my needs right when I walked in. It is in a convenient location close to my home and work. I have been there twice now, once by myself, and again with my boyfriend for the couples massage. Both times were incredible! I had never been to a spa until this one was recommended to me by a co-worker of mine. They offered me a nice cup of water, after the hot pack was put around my neck, and I was escorted into a dimly lit, beautiful waiting room. If you can't afford the nicest of the nice of spas, and you can't travel far from home, this is a smaller, professional, comfortable place that is willing to take you in. They have flexible schedules too! To fit to your busy schedule! more

Great Place/Great Value 12/22/2005

Finally a great place to receive a great massage without spending a lot of money. You can afford to have a massage more often. Pros: Inexpensive, Quite, Professional staff more

Hidden Gem 9/25/2005

If you don't know what you're looking for - you might miss this hidden gem tucked away in a Layton strip mall. Upon entering you are greeted with a warm neck pack and ushered into the serene waiting room. I recommend coming 15 minutes early (as suggested by the spa) so that you can take the time to relax in the waiting room. The relaxation continues as you indulge in the various treatments. All of the services are amazing - the staff tailors pedicures, massages, and facials to your specifications. With the services priced so affordably I suggest indluging in one of their packages - or create your own package. Just make sure that once you're finished you don't forget to pick up some amazing products before you leave. Pros: Price, Staff, Atmosphere more
