I decided to get my passport photos taken this past Saturday. The moment I walked in, I was taken aback by how messy the whole place was. I wondered to myself how they are able to find anything there. I wish I had listened to my gut instinct and left. Instead, I told the older man who appeared from the back room without a smile or a hello what I need. He pointed at the sign ""Passport Photos 4 - $18"". He sat me down in the back room, took couple of shots, cursed under his breath, took one more, turned off the light and said that it will be 5 minutes. I asked him if I can see what it looks like. He barked ""Wait 5 minutes"". I went back in front, expecting him to show me the options he took. The rude man then came and asked for payment. I gave him cash (mistake!), got no receipt. He then handed me an envelope with my photos. One set. Already cut. Ready to go. Except that these pictures were NOT acceptable - especially not for a passport! Not only was my hair sticking up on one side (I didn't see a mirror I could have checked myself out, and he didn't bother to tell me), the quality of the pictures was terrible! These were Polaroids, VERY light, and streaky! I almost thought that this was a joke, and he would hand me another envelope or tell me to try again. In disbelief, I asked him if that's it. He snipped ""Yep"" and started to make himself busy with shuffling some papers around and not even looking at me. I asked how come they don't use digital cameras and offer some options to choose from. He said ""That's $75"". Now, I am not overly sensitive, nor am I thrifty. And I am definitely vain enough to care what I look like! Had he been nice and friendly, and had he offered me that option to start with, I would have probably taken it. The whole experience was so unpleasant that I didn't even ask for my money back (I can bet my hat he wouldn't have given it!). I felt so insulted that I just wanted to get out of there. Total waste of 8 minutes and $20. I'll go elsewhere.
