Beware! In my opinion this is the worst day care in the state. The staff is incompetent and unattentive. I pick up my child and find him covered in food and mucus from a runny nose. Most days he is left strapped in a high chair or locked in his crib rather then allowed to play in the very small play area. They have released the child to me without even checking ID. They will hand small children off to any stranger who shows up. I found my child in the small play area once while 4 other small children were strapped in chairs and the care provider was in the far corner with her back turned filling out paperwork. The staff is unaware of safety procedures and when questioned did not even know where to find a first aid kit. The logs are illegible and the time frames are entirely false. They refuse to provide with me paperwork and are currently operating on a temporary license. They have little to no concern for the children, all they want is your money. STAY AWAY!!! more

I find Betty's Learning Academy to be one of the better childcare centers in the Union County area. The staff members are friendly and knowledgeable and really seem to enjoy working with children. Several have been there a number of years which says a lot for a business field that usually has high turn-over. They follow a fun, educational curriculum and have a well balanced day planned for the children. There is a beautiful playground and the center is clean and cheery. There is tight security and the children are safe. It is located in a very small town that is right next to Linden, Cranford and Clark. It's 'easy-in, easy-out' in a center that's off the beaten path, making it even more secure. No one would know that a center is located there unless your child went there or you were a resident of Winfield Park. All the staff is trained on a regular basis.
