Gay & Travis at Besttex Gardens are the absolute best. They've helped design both my front and backyard landscaping and they just finished a very large hardscape design plan including a large patio, fire pit, seating area and retaining wall. It's BEAUTIFUL. Can't say enough about their professionalism, creativity and integrity. I'd highly recommend Besttex Gardens for any of your landscaping needs - large or small. more

Gay and Travis were great to work with! We were pretty ""picky"" clients, having had 3 or 4 different architects come to the house and pitch their ""vision"" for our backyard remodel project. Without exception, the prospective candidates could not clearly describe a plan for our space that we felt excited about that addressed our desire to reduce our water footprint while creating a backyard environment that would be attractive to butterflies, hummingbirds and the like. Gay was able to immediately communicate the potential she saw and the results she would seek if hired at our very first visit. A ""perfect"" plan that blows the budget didn't work for us and we especially appreciated her ability to take existing plants not doing well in other areas of our yard and ""re-purpose"" them into her plan at better locations, saving us $$$ for other things! Great folks and honest businesspersons! Two thumbs up! more

Gay helped my neighbor and I plan a new flower bed and rennovate an existing one at our townhouses. We were on a budget so she used plants we already had and she gave us a timeline of items we could add periodically. more

Perfect Landscaping Advice 12/22/2010

Working with Gay was a wonderful experience. We recently moved to a new home with a lot of natural rock ground surfaces and rugged landscaping in the back. I fully expected someone to come in and recommend putting down sod and planting new grass over everything (expensive). Instead, Gay started by asking me what we wanted out of the space and what we liked. Then we tried to brainstorm ideas that would work with our budget. She suggested ways to work with the natural surroundings. We ended up with wonderful ideas I never would have thought of (putting a firepit and natural rock seating in an area where the ground was natural stone -- with ground cover, creating a border for a flower bed of trees and using it as a separation between a natural grassy area and the rocky area, and in a third area of sloped landscape at the very back of our property, we planted wildflowers and bluebonnets!) -- I am so excited to see how the yard and new direction matures. She really knows which plants should go where as well. I was very pleased with her creativity and attention to my desires. And she made me feel at ease when my knowledge was clearly lacking in certain areas. She's a great teacher. more

Icing on the Cake 12/6/2010

I called Gay in at the 11th hour to put together a beautification plan for my yard in preparation for my parents' 50 Anniversary celebration and renewal of vows. I had a limited budget and a limited amount of time to accomplish it. Gay had an ability to clearly build on what was already present and give clear suggestions and ideas on what COULD be done in an immediate and cumulative plan. She took a difficult project and knocked it out of the park for us. We had a beautiful outdoor celebration that will last in our memories for years to come. She went above and beyond. I would recommend her for any landscaping project. She's knowledgeable and a visionary. more

I love my landscape! 6/5/2010

Everything about this landscaping experience was great. I didn't really know exactly what I wanted. I just knew I wanted my sparse yard filled in with native, drought tolerant plants. Gay came up with a beautiful, creative design that suits the space perfectly. The job was done sooner than I expected and came in under my budget. I was so pleased that I asked her to do my daughter's front yard which was truly a desperate landscape. It too, is now beautiful. Pros: easy to work with, creative, knowledgable Cons: none more

Beautiful landscaping 5/26/2010

It was such a pleasure working with Gay to redo my flower beds. She really has an eye for making your yard look its best. She made my messy and unmanageable flower beds look like something out of a magazine. I would highly recommend her to anyone and she is one of the nicest people you could meet. Created Major Curb Appeal 11/5/2009

I can't even describe how much better our front yard looks. We needed to sell our home and had spent tons of time, money and effort making the interior look good, but the landscaping still left a lot to be desired. It was so bad, I was afraid that people would overlook our house simply because they had "judged a book by its cover" and never even go in and see it. I met Gay at a Realtor event (did I mention I am a Realtor so I KNOW how important curb appeal is) and asked her to come out to the house and see if could do anything to our sad little yard. She met with me and we talked about what would really make it look great and how to make that happen with our tiny budget. She was so creative and figured out great ways to use what I already had on hand to save money and the difference was AMAZING! I had several neighbors call and ask for her info and I have successully referred her to many clients and friends already. I will use her again on my new house and would recommend her to anyone. Pros: Listened to what we needed and stayed within budget Cons: can't think of one more

Awesome Experience 11/5/2009

Best Tex offers a consulting service for those of us that have some skill and available resources but are short on cash. Following Ms. Grays helpful guidance I was able to complete a major change to my homes appearance for roughly 20% of the cost if done as a full service. Her patience and quick recognition of what excites the customer results in a very pleasant experience with astounding results. Call Her! Pros: Vision, Expertise, Eye for Detail, Easy to Work with. Cons: Can't Find Any more

Understands Plants, Landscape Design and Maintenance 11/5/2009

Gay can help with knowing which plants to choose, placing plants, and the seasonal maintainence of existing plants. She is thoughtful about the work plans she executes and has a practical view to managing the project for both time and cost. She is good about consulting with you and keeping you updated on what has been accomplished and the time schedules. She is a delight to work with! more
