Today I took my car (with 50,000 miles on it) in for an oil change. The tech came out to say, ""It seems like it's been a LONG time since you had an oil change. If you go this long between them, you want a long-life oil, which will last you 6k miles instead of 3."" I knew it had been longer than 3k miles since I'd been in, so I agreed.
I realized when I traveled with traffic on Airline (normal speed limit: 50 mph) and my digital speedometer said 76 that they pushed the button to convert mph into kph. They thought I had 81k miles.
I called Benny's and told them what they did, and they said, ""Come back in, and we'll change your oil out for the standard oil.""
I went back in, and they point-blank refused to change the oil back or refund the extra $37 for the high-mileage oil. (They apologized and gave me a new windshield sticker, though.)
I asked half a dozen times for my $37 back, as they should not have used that oil and there would've been no extra charge if they'd used regular oil. Every time, the English-was not-his-first-language tech (a different one from before) said, ""But this oil is better. It will last you 6,000 miles, not 3."" We talked in circles before I finally gave up.
Though their work was fine, Benny's (at least this location) has lost my business from this point forward.
