Benjamin Peters Inc

Anyone who has been up to Ithaca knows that there aren't too many "chain stores." One can usually get by, but if you need formal wear and are in a bind, Benjamin Peters is one of the few stores you can go to. You could travel to the Carousel Mall in Syracuse, but it is 50 minutes away by car and out of many students' reach. Benjamin Peters is located in the commons. It has a nice selection of suits, ties, and dress shirts. The store is on the small side (i.e. not like the men's department at a department store), but the service is very friendly and the sales people know their stuff. The things they sell are of good quality although you will definitely pay for this. That would be the one complaint I have about the store: its prices are a bit on the expensive side. However, like I said, if you need formal wear quickly, I would recommend this over the other local options such as The Bon Ton. Overall, it has a good selection, quality, and service. more

Benjamin Peters is primarily a men's clothing store. What's great about it is that, besides it's convenient location on The Commons, it is a store that a man can go into and find just about everything he needs all in one place-- socks, underwear, nice shirts, pants, and suits. In my husband's words, "They have nice products." This is the perfect store for someone who doesn't like to shop but DOES need new clothes now and then. The salesmen are all extremely helpful and have good advice. The convenience and help more than make up for the higher prices. As a bonus, Benjamin Peters also has a nice selection of casual women's shoes (for those of us waiting for our male friends) and good sales. more
