  • Benedictine University, founded in 1887 by the monks of St. Procopius Abbey, is a Catholic university in the Benedictine tradition that offers excellent science and business programs and a values-centered liberal arts education to more than 3,500 undergraduate students of diverse ages, religions, races and national origins.

Benedictine is located 25 miles west of Chicago in suburban Lisle near Naperville, and is easily accessible from the city and suburbs via the interstate highway system. The University is situated on a rolling, tree-covered 108-acre campus of 20 buildings including the Kindlon Hall of Learning, the Birck Hall of Science and the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex, one of the premier NCAA Division III athletic facilities in the country.

At Benedictine, the environment is strengthened by success, not size. Renowned faculty members know students by name and care as much about each student?s progress as they do about their own research. Benedictine graduates are accepted into some of the most prestigious graduate programs in the country. U.S.News & World Report?s 2010 rankings list Benedictine among the top tier of Midwest schools in the ?Best University ? Master?s? category and sixth in Illinois for racial diversity.

Benedictine offers 49 traditional undergraduate programs leading to degrees in:

    • Bachelor of Arts
    • Bachelor of Fine Arts
    • Bachelor of Business Administration
    • Bachelor of Science

    Programs for adults include:

    • 13 undergraduate accelerated programs
    • 13 graduate programs
    • Four doctorate programs

The Benedictine admission philosophy is to select students who will perform successfully in the University?s academic programs and become active members of the University community. Students must have a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or better, a cumulative ACT score of 21 and rank in the top 50 percent of their high school graduating class.

Many Benedictine students receive financial aid through loans, scholarships and grants, tuition remission and employment opportunities. To apply, students must complete the following forms.
