I am surprised at the two negative reviews here. My experience over a 5 year period was quite different.
Admittedly, I have not seen him since I moved to the west coast in October 2000, so I cannot speak to his performance since then. But during 1995-2000, he solved quite a few persistent, stubborn, and troubling problems.
1) Cleared my acne for three years -- from 1998-2001 (I moved to the west coast in late 2000, so he could no longer treat me). From 1985-1995 I had been treated for acne by various dermatologists with little success. These treatments included multiple courses of Accutane. Dr. Bendetson, on the other hand, put me on another course of Acctuane, but he took into account the fact that my acne always returned post-therapy and adjusted the regime appropriately.
2) Cleared my keratosis pilaris on my upper arms. Again, over the years, I had seen multiple dermatologists who had prescribed me various creams that did not work. Dr. Bendetson suggested an OTC lotion (Epilyt lotion) that resolved the issue within three months. The keratosis pilaris never returned.
3) Removed some large moles with little scarring. He removed several large and strange looking moles. I have trouble finding the scars where the moles once existed. On the other hand, when I went to skin surgeons for the same procedures, I ended up with long lasting and visible scars. Dr. Bendetson's cut and cauterize method worked much better.
Of course, not everything went swimmingly: not everything was resolved on the first try, but that's dermatology. Let's just say he had a better track record with me than my previous three dermatologists (and any dermatologist I have seen since).
