Ben Franklin Store

I love to go to this store and browse through their craft items. They range from Americana items to roosters! I do think they are a bit pricey compared to going to a craft show, but they have quite a few unique items that I haven't seen at any shows. They also have some great smelling tarts and candles. I love to shop here during their after Christmas sale - your bound to find GREAT deals then! This store also offers many other items. They have a fabric section with a person always available to help (and very friendly!). There is a gift area with greeting cards and wrapping paper / gift bags. They have a small section of scrapbooking items, but again, I find them to be a bit more expensive then the regular scrapbook store. This store has a fun feel to it and the staff is always warm and inviting. You are greeted as soon as you walk in the door and if there are more then a few people in line, they are very quick to open another register. more

This store doesn't have much in the way of variety, but if you want folk art, and the feel of a country store this is the place for you! They sell lots of craft items, and a small variety of other things. I love this store, but some of the prices are a bit high. The staff is wonderful and friendly. A definite recommendation! more

This is an old fashioned 5 & Dime store located in Shelby. It even looks like the older stores I remember from my childhood. But this chain carries some “hard to find” items that sent me here in the first place, in particular some macramé supplied that I was unable to find anywhere else. Ben Franklin also carries some great seasonal goods that you dont find anywhere else. I always find unique and unusual Halloween and Christmas decoration here, and they are always on sale or at very reasonable prices. Picture frames are also a great item here, and where I was unable to find a unique or unusual frame elsewhere, I can always count on finding it here. This store is located in the middle of downtown Shelby, so parking is on the street and that can mean parking a block away. But if you are looking for something in particular, chances are you will find it here and it will be reasonably priced. The staff is always friendly and will help you find what you are looking for. The store is bright and airy, and very vintage in feel. I nice change from the industrial feel of some of the larger department stores. This is a nice store to wander about for decoration needs and ideas, and those hard to find items. Ben Franklin Stores have been around for a long time, and this store is a good reason why they continue to flourish. more
