Belmont Cooperative Nursery School

I absolutely love this school. My daughter is in her second year and I can't say enough good things about our experience. The teachers are phenomenal. They truly care about the children and create a stimulating environment that encourages learning and individual creativity. I can't understand caringmommy's comment about this school being more like a daycare. It's just not true. I looked at many schools and BCNS truly provides something unique. The parents are wonderful too. I've formed great friendships with other parents that I know will last. While I'm excited to see my daughter go to kindergarten I am sad to see her leave BCNS. I don't know what the previous reviewer is talking about! This school is amazing! My son has been stimulated, entertained and taught a million things. He loves every minute he can spend at the Coop and we love the community there. The teachers are all truly dedicated, clearly love the children and thoroughly devoted to their jobs. As to academics... Their ""learning through play"" philosophy works wonders. The children can let their imaginations run free, and learn through the process. My son, who would not pick up a pen just two months ago can now write his name, along with the entire alphabet and sits down and tries to spell words by himself. What other preschool do you know where children make electric circuits, have fun art and music lessons, make up their own treasure hunts and think every day is an adventure? I have been sadly disappointed by Belmont Cooperative nursery school. In earlier years the school was a wonderful place within the community. However, it has become a chaotic and unpleasant environment that is unproductive at best and dangerous at worst. My child lost out on some valuable educational time and was not prepared for kindergarten. I had to hire a private tutor to help her catch up to her classmates. This school has no education and is really daycare. If you are looking for a quality place to have your child learn, I recommend continuing your search.
