Bellvale Farms is a 10th generation family owned and operated farm in bucolic Warwick, NY-- a small community in Orange County (about 50 miles north of NYC). Bellvale Farms has been in operation since 1819 and boasts an impressive 450 acres for the production of excellent dairy products that are used and distributed throughout the Hudson Valley region. The farm is home to a large number of registered Holstein and Jersey cows.
Visit the farm on any Sunday afternoon and you'll be treated to a personal tour conducted by Skip Buckbee. Skip and his sister, Amy returned to his family's farm about ten years ago to continue their family's business (the senior Buckbee's have lived on the farm for over 40 years). Skip will show you how he milks the cows and cares for the calves. It's a close up and personal view to farming.
From June through October, the celebrated dairy barn, built in 1900, is open to the public on Sundays, from 3:30-4:30PM. Calves are fed at 3:30 and milking starts at 4PM. Be sure to ask for "Twinkle" the popular Jersey cow who is raising quite a family at the barn!
Don't forget to stop by the Bellvale Creamery, also on the property, to enjoy some of the best ice cream in these parts.
