Downloadable Videos from King County Library 7/8/2006

I made the coolest discovery recently - if you have a King County Library card, you can download videos, eBooks and audiobooks from their website for free. And there are some really great titles! The download process takes a little while (I would suggest planning on an hour or two for a feature-length movie until you figure out what kind of performance you get) but the movies play really well. I put them on a laptop with an S-video connection hooked up to the television and run the audio through the stereo and am very pleased with the both the video and audio quality that way. My son loves the Charlie Chaplin movies we downloaded last week and they have a whole lot of Rabbit Ears productions available (anyone remember these from a few years back - name actors reading traditional stories and folk tales with great musicians doing background music and great art too) . I even ran across a WONDERFUL documentary called Paper Clips about kids from Whitwell, Tennessee who turned a relatively simple unit on the holocaust into something much bigger than anyone imagined. There is some interesting diversity to the titles they have available and I love that I don't have to even go anywhere to pick them up. If you have access to KCLS and haven't tried this out yet, you definitely should. It's a great service more

Bellevue library is a very good place to spent your time. I was really surprised when I first went there. This is really a nice place. They have huge collection of books, magazines and videos. The videos are very good. But I Think you have to return the videos in 1 week. more

Bellevue Public Library 11/14/2005

I first visited the Bellevue Public Library with my friend and her two young children. I must admit, I have not been inside a library since high school. It was to my surprise that it has many things to offer…great selections of books, magazines, CD and DVDs. We had a great time reading children stories to the kids. more

This place is great 9/16/2005

I always enjoy visiting to the Bellevue Public Library for many reasons. Firstly, they offer a large selection of books, videos, CDs, and other resources that are easily organized and searchable with their computers. The atmosphere is bright with plenty of chairs around to sit and read. There are also many classes that run in the same building which is helpful. more

Great selection, parking and staff 8/19/2005

I greatly enjoy this library. The selection is great. I mainly order items online and pick them up to read/listen to. The music selection is actually pretty good, and the book collection is huge. The King County Library System has made this a great choice by having it so close to the city, but still to have a great deal of parking available. I definitely recommend!! more

Everything I want from a library 8/18/2005

When I first moved to Bellevue, one of my first quests was to find the public library. What can I say - I'm a dork! Anyhow, this library is absultely amazing. On multiple floors, there is plenty to choose from for me and my family. I especially loved the amount of travel books available. The children's section is also wonderful, and I found the librarians to be extra nice to the kiddies (patience!). All in all, I could wander around here for hours. more

Great library with parking! 7/30/2005

With three floors of books, the Bellevue Regional Library (part of the King County LIbrary System) is the largest public library in the area with the exception of the downtown Seattle library and the UW libraries. Study carrols, and tables of various sizes are spread throughout the library, so there is never a problem finding some place to sit. It is also a govenment document repository - the only one in the region. It has a computer center with rows of computers, business section with ValueLine investment info, large magazine section, etc. And, unlike the downtown Seattle library it has its own FREE parking lot and parking garage. more

A Darn Good Library 7/11/2005

The Bellevue Regional is an excellent library and an excellent system (King County Library System.) They have good programs for children and toddlers, a variety of reading programs for all ages, and a great collection. The staff is generally helpful and intelligent. The reference floor is quite a pleasant place, although getting an Internet terminal can be challenging at peak hours. more

joy on a loan 7/2/2005

The air you breathe is that of books, of print, of ink and paper and dreams. Shattered dreams. Then you step out of the long hallway, the one where a tap from your shoe richocheted off every painting and never settled, It rather floated above you, hovering, grinning, collapsing into the great echoey stretch of white noise. It didn't want to leave. Neither did you. But as you put a toe on new land, thick new carpet, you see your lifesaver. No, it isn't one of those candies, heartlessly mass-produced by lord knows what cousin of Willy Wonka, but a rather peculiar one. A self-serve checkout station, a brand new little restaurant. You crawl gingerly to safety, drying in the sun, winking at the natives. You quench a new thirst, pop open a fizzing can of joy. more
