Belleview West Animal Hospital

We were visiting our daughter in Denver from out of town and our dog had to see a vet. We had no knowledge of vets in the area, so we picked one relatively close to where we were. Ever heard that saying ""sometimes better to be lucky than good"". My wife and I were very pleased with Dr. Barnard and his staff. We have a nervous dog in vet offices, but never has she responded so friendly to a vet than Dr. Barnard. He comes in the exam room introduces himself, and the proceeds to sit on the floor and talk to our dog. Seemed very thorough, and he answered all our questions without making us feel crazy. We have found a vet we will remember for all our trips here and would highly recommend him to everyone! more

I have been taking my dogs to ""Dr. B"" for about 3 years now. His staff is so kind and they give such great care to my babies. I have had the occasional time (Today!)when I have needed to move an appointment last minute and they are always so flexible to work with me. Everytime we come in for anything, the staff just loves on my dogs, giving them treats and playing with them. Dr. B even sits on the floor playing with them as he does the exam so they don't feel so scared and they just love him! I am constantly calling with questions, and his staff is so knowledgable and always make me feel so much better. Dr. B has his cell phone # on the answering machine after hours (which I admit I have used once or twice) and he has even met me on a sunday on his own time to double check everything was okay with my dog after she had had major surgery on her leg. They have a couple nights a week that they are open until 7, which is so great to be able to bring them in late after I pick up my kids from school. And even when I have had to bring my kids in, the staff heard they were hungry and brought them animal crackers into the room! They take such good care of my whole family, I would highly recommend them to anyone! more

I can not believe the wonderful experience that I had today at Belleview West Animal Hospital! I am new to the area and as such had been looking for a vet that had hours available to fit my work schedule, and would be willing to put up with all of my nutty animals. So I called and made an appointment. Since first impressions are important to me and it starts with the phone call, WOW!!!! That is about all I can say about that WOW! The person that answered the phone was very knowledgeable, and out of this world friendly. After getting all of my information, she said that they had some time today to take a look at my dog, she said that the appointment could be done one of two ways, either I could drop my dog off and Dr. Barnard could take a look at him between surgeries or they would fit me in on a double booking, there would be a bit of a wait, but my dog would be seen today. I chose the double booking as I was not sure about leaving my dog any where new. Upon arrival I was greeted by a very pleasant member of his staff. Again...... WOW! She was very sweet and nice and started right out talking to my dog like it was one of her own. And my dog took to her like a duck to water. All of the girls there were just gaagaa over my border collie. After filling out the paper work and getting all the necessary paper work finished up, I was taken into a room, the girls asked if I would like to have a magazine to read while I waited. The office was very clean, and the girls up front where funny! I could hear them joking around with each other through the closed door. I waited about 10 minutes, and one of the girls popped her head in to make sure that I was still doing okay, and she said that Dr. Barnard was just finishing up. I had to ask her how long she had worked here at Belleview Animal Hospital? She said that she had only been working here for a year. I asked her how she liked working at Belleview, this is important for me to know, because if the staff is unhappy than it rubs off on the animals. She stated that she loved the practice, and that Dr. Barnard was the best! So if his employees love him, well let's see what happens with my dog. Dr. Barnard (Dr. B to his staff) came into the room and my dog went crazy! First Dr. Barnard called my dog by his name, then he asked the dog ""what's up Big T?"", my dogs name is Tank. After he talked to my dog, and patted him, he spoke to me. The full appointment lasted about 20 minutes and I left with my medications, all the advise and instruction that I would need to treat my dog at home. All of this for a very reasonable price. I look forward to being a regular client of Belleview West. Rhonda, Ashley and Amy are the best! more

I have been taking my 2 dogs to Belleview West for a few years. I always noticed that I had to remind the Dr. about things. He never seemed to remember me or my dogs from time to time. Today took the cake. He had prescribed medication for one of my dogs for an arthritic condition. He said to try it and if it didn't seem to work we would try something else. I called yesterday to see what else we could use because the meds weren't doing the job. I waited for 24 hours...no phone call. I called this morning.. The receptionist appologized and said he had an emergency. It is now 5:30, and no phone call. He clearly doesn't have time for me or my dog that is in pain. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. more

I have been going to BWAH even before the current vet Dr. Barnard purchased it and I must say, the current vet is excellent as was the previous one. Dr. Barnard and his staff work very hard to maintain a good relationship with their clients. Since I have been going to Dr. Barnard 14 yrs now, I will say that if they seem short (as I noticed some people have written) it may be do to the high demand for his services. We now have over 8000 new residence since he first purchased the clinic and with so many new people it has to be difficult to get to them all. I have 5 dogs and everyone of them go to BWAH. We have had major and minor surgeries, teeth cleanings, shots and when something is out of the scope of what the doctor can do he graciously refers you to a specialist. I feel this clinic with all its growing pains at the moment is something you may want to revisit in the future. I am sure this clinic is smart enough to address the issues it may be having and fix the problem. They are good people and truly care for the animals. DB more

I love taking my dog to BWAH! I have been taking him there since he was 8 weeks old. The vet and staff treat him like he is one of their own animals. I am always welcomed with a smile when I go there. The vet is so personable and is always asking about my family and how we are doing too. If you want a personable, loving experience for your pet this is the place to come!!!! more

I would never take my dogs to any other vet. The doc sincerely loves all the animals and takes care of them to the best of his ability. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the facility is nice and clean. Definitely recommend this vet to other pet owners! more

I have been taking my cats to Belleview West Animal Hospital for over ten years, and have had great success. Today, however, was appalling! After waiting 45 minutes in the room with my cat, the doctor came in... didn't speak a word to me.. let alone apologize for making us wait 45 minutes. It was myself that had to initiate the conversation about my cat who I took in a week and a half ago. The last visit I paid the amount in full. Today, when I was told the astronomical amount to run tests on my cat, I stated that I could not pay in full and asked if I could pay some today and the rest in three weeks when I got paid. I was taken aback by the comments made to me because I could not pay the full amount. I love my cats and am a good owner. People fall on rough times, and to be told that the doctor feels sorry for my cat because as an owner I cannot pay to get him well, is unacceptable and unprofessional!! The fact I have taken my cats to this facility for over ten years and have been able to pay in full every time obviously has no bearing. I will never step foot in their door again and instead will be looking for a more compassionate and caring facility. more

I took my puppy in to this vet,she was very afraid of the vet.He put his face straight to hers and just started to do the exam.He didn't care to ask her name or anything.When he first walked into the room he shook my hand but not very firm and he didn't even offer to shake my boyfriends.So needless to say worst trip to the vet ever!.\r My puppy was positive for a parasite,and as any concerned parent,one would ask very many questions but the staff member who was helping me was VERY RUDE.As i know very little on this parasite, I asked how cruible it was and she said ""if it wasn't curible would I be giving you medication?.""She said it with great attitude.I was very upset and I would never reccomend this clinic. I took my kitten in to this vet. He was very afraid and leery of the doctor. Instead of being a comforting, patient person, the vet proceeded to have a power trip with my cat, restraining him, shaking him and being very mean, only because my kitten was squirming a little. I was a new customer and will never return. Now my kitten who is only 12 weeks old is scarred for life. This vet is definitely not recommended. Cons: Do not trust this vet. more
