Well first off, they were way off when it came to telling me what size to order in my bridesmaid dress. Luckily I didn't listen to them and ordered what made the most sense, and I'm glad I did because it was STILL too big. One of the other bridesmaids wasn't so lucky...she ordered the size they told her to, which made no sense because her and I are basically the same size and they told her to get a size 10, and I ordered a size 2. So, she of course had to get it majorly altered, and used the Belles of Elegance seamstress, and ended up paying them a ton (well over $100) to have it altered twice. I suppose that nicely benefited the store, so they were happy.
My husband also stood up in the wedding and rented his tux through them. Belles of Elegance does not have their own tuxes to rent out, they basically rent them from DuBois and then turn around and rent it out to you, but charge you more than DuBois would if you just went directly to them. He went in and got measured for the tux, which was totally pointless because when he went to pick it up the day before the wedding, it was way off. The neck was way too tight, and the sleeves on the coat were too long. So, they said they would alter the sleeves and have it ready for him the next day. Well, he went to put on the coat the day of the wedding, and they had only hemmed up ONE SLEEVE, and it was way too short, literally 4 inches above his wrist. So basically, it looked like they somehow hemmed the same sleeve twice. I'm assuming someone hemmed one sleeve, got distracted, and then just went back and hemmed that same sleeve again, never touching the other one. So one sleeve was a good 4 inches longer than the other and he had to rip out the shorter seam just to get them to match, and then just deal with the sleeves being a little too long. On top of that, when he had originally gotten measured, they had him try on a pair of the rental shoes and decide what size he was, and they wrote it down. Again, don't know why they bothered acting like they cared because when he went to pick up the tux, they handed him the wrong sized shoes, and when he mentioned it, they brushed him off and said they didn't have any shoes in his size. And just to make things even better, the shoes they gave him smelled so awful--horribly stinky feet smell--so obviously no one cleaned them. Maybe that's on DuBois, but disgusting nonetheless.
And for the icing on the cake, the paperwork just said the tux was due back the Monday after the wedding, so he planned on bringing it back after work since they don't open on Mondays until 10 am. On his way over, he got a call from the store reminding him it's due back and he said, yes I'm on my way over. Then she told him that it had been due back at 2pm because they need to get the tuxes back to DuBois ASAP. I'm sorry but what person is able to get a tux back between 10-2 on a Monday (they aren't open Sundays). Apparently there is a ""late fee"" for not getting it back before 2pm, even though it says NOTHING about this in the paperwork they give you, and they never mentioned this before. Unfortunately this is pretty much the worst service we've ever had at a bridal store. Obviously not much has changed since a few years ago when we got married--I walked in one day to check the store out and was asked right away if I had an appointment, and when I said no I was made to feel like I was totally inconveniencing them. I was basically told I needed an appointment to shop, and couldn't look around.
