I wish i could give less than one star. Dr Karmin is as arrogant as he is incompetent. . The staff is very rude and un-welcoming. Do not take your pets here

They treat your pet like their own. 4/28/2011

Dr. Brew treated my beloved old dog like she was her own. My dog was with us for 14 years and Dr. Brew and everyone at BAH could not have been more loving. When our other dog was lost for two weeks, everyone at BAH went above and beyond to help us find him. And we actually did find him! Each person at BAH treats your pet like they are their own family member. No exaggeration. They are awesome! more

Won't go anywhere else eventhough I've moved 6/12/2010

I have been going to BAH since I was a little girl. They have always been wonderful. Dr. Brew and Dr. Karmin are really good. There are other great docs there but I can not remember their names. I found a sick kitten one day that I spent all night trying to nurse back to health. I was exhausted in the morning after not sleeping and took him to Dr. Karmin. He was so good about it. I doubt this poor thing lived but I will always appreciate the decency and kindness of Dr. Karmin after that harrowing night. more

Brew Patricia Dvm - Bellerose Animal Hospital is a Long Distance Vet 8/14/2009

My daughter moved to Pennsylvania and bought a puppy who turned out to be very sick. She came back for a month so that Dr. Brew could determine what was wrong with him and make him better. Five years later Blitzen is a beautiful, active Boston Terrier. My dog Taz absolutely adores Dr. Brew and gives her a kiss goodbye whenever he goes in to see her. When I move to Pennsylvania I will probably be bringing Taz back to see her when needed. more

great through the years 7/31/2009

My family has been using BAH since the 70's. I have always found them to be competent & caring. I have been using Dr. Brew since the 90's & find that she has a special bond with my pets & family. Prices have definitely gone up, but then, there are so many more specialized services nowadays that weren't even heard of years ago. I finally broke down & got pet insurance for those emergency visits! The staff at the reception desk could be more polite & friendly, especially Emily, who comes across as rude. more

LOVE this place! 4/7/2009

I have nothing but positive things to say. When my puppy had parvo, they worked hard to save her. Five years later she is doing well. They where very compassionate with the passing of my other dog. I absolutely love Dr. Brew and hope she is my vet forever! more

Beyond Outstanding!!! 12/15/2008

I love this place, I currently live in Brooklyn NY and STILL take my pet here. I can't speak for all the doctors as I always ask for Dr. Hernandez and she is amazing, her love and compassion for animals shines as soon as you enter the room. She has never tried to push any unnecessary medicine which is important to me. Spotty loves her and as soon as she enters the room Spotty's nerves are at ease and is able to handle her routine check-ups. There should be more places like these!!! I will continue to come here even if I move even further! more

Bellerose Animal Hospital 12/9/2008

I take my dog here and am very satisfied with Dr. Witherell. I cannot speak for the other vets there, but Dr. Witherell is fantastic. She is very thorough and understanding of my dogs quirks. She also has a lot of patience dealing with the constant bombardment of questions by my girlfriend. more

Used to be great, has changed over the years 12/9/2008

My family has taken their pets to this vet since the place opened which is I think 50 years ago or so. The head vet, Dr. Karmin is great, his father opened the hospital and my mom remembers him from when he was a little boy. Fifty or more years later, Dr. Karmin was there for me with my sweet dog Lovey who had many issues especially in her later years, and he did everything he could for her. But he is not always available, and you have to see another vet, which is not a great option- the rest of the vet staff is ok, some good some not so good. Plus, the reception desk is not at all friendly and that is a shame because that is the first impression a client gets from the business. I wish they would get another good doctor on staff and revamp their reception. more

Do not go to this vet 4/3/2008

  • Bellerose Animal Hospital, serving the community since 1946, is committed to a team effort utilizing the expertise of its doctors and nurses in conjunction with specialists and consultants to obtain and offer the most knowledgeable, informed and compassionate veterinary care possible for our patients. We focus on the following services: 1. Preventive Medicine At Bellerose Animal Hospital, we believe preventive medicine is the key to keeping your pet healthy. Through our preventative care program, your pet receives a comprehensive "nose-to-tail" physical examination in order to establish his or her own overall health profile. We use a personalized approach to high quality pet care based on you and your pet's age and lifestyle. We recommend your pet undergo a comprehensive physical exam each year, though more frequent exams are encouraged. Due to the many recent discoveries and innovations in veterinary medicine, your pet can be protected from most major diseases. Today, many immunizations and preventive treatments are available that did not exist just a few years ago. Vaccination protocols are individualized for your pet. Our veterinarians and staff can help you decide what preventive measures are necessary for your pet. 2. Senior Pet Care Thanks to advances in veterinary health care, pets are living longer and healthier lives. Though ages vary when it comes to considering when a pet is a "senior citizen," a good rule of thumb is to consider large dogs as senior citizens at 6 years of age and small dogs at 8 years. Cats are regarded as seniors when they are 8 years old. Regular veterinary exams are the key to keeping your pet healthy during his or her senior years. Older pets have much different healthcare requirements than younger pets. That's why we work closley with you to develop a senior wellness plan that reflects your pet's existing conditions, medical needs and overall health profile. Our goal is to help you and your faithful companion enjoy many more years together. 3. Cancer Treatment A diagnosis of cancer can often be frightening. However, recent advences in veterinary medicine have made cancer in pets highly treatable. Early detection often is the most important part of successful treatment. A routine veterinary examination can be useful in spotting lumps and tumors—often the first sign of cancer. Treatment depends on the type and location of the cancer. When possible, our veterinarians can surgically remove the tumor. Some types of cancer are responsive to chemotherapy, which includes a variety of oral and injectable drugs. Dogs and cats tend to respond to chemotherapy well and often do not develop side effects similar to humans. If your pet is diagnosed with cancer, we will work with you to develop a treatment program that best suits your pet. 4. Nutritional Counseling A proper diet is one of the best ways to prevent disease and keep your pet healthy and happy. A good diet coupled with an exercise program can provide your pet with the nutrition he or she needs while preventing obesity, heart disease and other ailments. The veterinarians at Bellerose Animal Hospital will work with you to develop a nutritional program that is right for your pet. 5. Behavioral Counseling Behavior problems are not uncommon in pets. Behavior problems are often complex to treat and may be the result of medical or environmental problems. Whether your pet is having trouble getting along with other pets or people in your home, urinates or defecates inappropriately or has issues with separation anxiety, we can work with you and your pet to solve these behavior problems.
