Ron, family and staff are great folks, that being said I have gone to them for years to fix things that need to be done with my grandmother's antique items. I especially love their pooch who hangs out in the shop to greet you! These folks are reasonable for what they do too. more

I purchase a mens platinum wedding band from Gold and Gems and can't express how extremely satisfied I am with the experience and product. This particular ring was made by Art Carved, and I saved many hundreds of dollars over my local jeweler. Ron was very knowledgeable with no sales pressure - I really felt like he was looking after my interests as a customer. He had to order the ring and I had a tight timeline - he sent it to me overnight at no additional cost! Great customer service, wonderful product, amazing price, and overall great experience!!! I just stumbled across this site and while browsing some reviews saw the previous one and had to reply. I took in a watch to have the battery replaced. Same thing, over charged, done while I waited by an inefficient salesperson and then, 2 days later while setting the time, the whole knob/rod mechanism came out. When I took it back to them they swore it wasn't their fault, but it seems obvious to me.... After much wrangling they agreed to fix it without charge. What a hassle. more

i'm writing as a citizen of ashland - i know both father and son owners of this jewelry store socially and find them to be very likeable. however, this has been my experience with the store: 1. took a pendent in to have a bale soldered and enlarged; job was botched when the soldering tip obviously melted another part of the original pendant; 2. when we went to pay for the item, they attempted to charge me $95 instead of the $75 bill they wrote at the time we dropped off the item; we didn't have the original receipt with us, but we insisted on paying the original amount and would come back with our copy of the receipt (odd, since you would think they would also keep a copy of the receipt on hand with the item...hmmm) 3. we took in a watch (fine gold swiss made) to have the battery changed; we had to pick it up 3 days later (many other places can do this while you wait) and when we arrived at home, the glass case and face plate of the watch popped off; when we took the item to a watchmaker in the next town that specializes in fine watch repair, he indicated that a strap and two screws which hold down the battery were missing and apparantly not replaced when the battery was changed. you be the judge. more

They have many different styles and you are bound to find something to catch people attention. The prices are reasonable and you get what you pay for. Once you go there everytime you picture "jewelry store" gold & gems will pop up in your head because it is the typical jewelry store. more
