Key west is the ultimate weekend getaway. As a Miami native Key West as always been like a second home to me. The fresh sea air smacks you in the face on the relaxing drive down from Miami. With its Historical Attractions such as the Ship Wreckers Museum and Hemingway House as well as its exciting nightlife, Key West is sure to become your favorite place to be too. Being born and raised in Miami and loving the water and the outdoors the Keys and Key West is an excellent weekend getaway. The diving is the best in the country. Boating is an interesting way to explore the different Keys. Accomodations and attractions are excellent. The lifestyle is a great change of pace form the fast pace of Miami. Rest & Relax. 8/8/2002

This place is absolutely gorgeous. So quit and peaceful. Its is very much up to date with the world and yet, it is historically rich. Everything is just so conveniently there at your disposal and there are so varieties that it will take you months to see everything, and even then you would still things. And best of all, all of it is at walking distance. you park your car somewhere and you are done. Key West: a great place to get away. Cons: Too far away for MIA more

Livin is easy... 6/26/2002

I lived in the keys for two winters. Working and living in Key West is definitely different than just visiting, but either way it has its merits and its faults. On the good side: Lots of characters, laid-back aura, great seafood, fun nightlife. Bad side: Too many tourists on one street, shops are overpriced and pedal crap (mostly T-shirts), locals can get kind of flippant with outsiders. Some of the best and worst: Sunsets on the pier, Sloppy Joes, the Green Parrot, Rick's (ugh!), Duval in general, Half Shell, Pepe's, Blue Heaven, cigars everywhere, rum everywhere, Hemingway....All that said, I met some great people, gots lots of sunshine and had an excellent time. It's a treasure to behold. And the livin is definitely easy.... more

Margaritaville? 5/16/2002

Key West is so much fun. It's crazy to think it's so close to Cuba. I like the sunset ceremony (everyday). The main strip tends to be pretty tourtisty, but that's what it's all about. Be sure to grab a snorkel and head into the water. more
