Belcaro Animal Hospital

Belcaro would rather make money than help a suffering animal! I made an appointment a week ago to euthanize our family dog. They asked no questions, just told me to bring him in at my appointment time. Sparing all of the emotional - when questioned by the doctor as to why we were euthanizing, I explained that he was riddled with tumors all over his body, has a shot immune system (multiple infections that won't resolve with antibiotics), enlarged liver, high liver counts, incontinent, aggression and most likely has Cushing's Disease - which has turned our sweet dog into a roid rage ravaged time bomb around our 3 year old and 6 month old. Her response - ""Cushing's is treatable."" \r \r Cushing's is not treatable, it is manageable, with uncomfortable and $$$EXPENSIVE$$$ bloodwork, constant pharmaceutical intervention - which leads to further medical problems and is also $$$EXPENSIVE$$$, and this goes on until the tumors finally go malignant or need surgical removal, etc. etc. ching ching ching to a veterinarian's ears. Until, ultimately, the dog dies. \r \r We have elected not to put him through all of this nonsense. She refused to perform a euthanasia. I had to bring him home and put him down myself. Talk about turning one of the most horrible days of your life into a traumatic, horrifying, nightmare!\r \r Only go here if you're willing to spend thousands of dollars on your pet's end of life care/torture/prolonged suffering. Otherwise, you and your beloved pet will be turned away. more

WORST Animal Hospital in Denver!!! Not only are they too busy to care, they don't listen! I told them I saw tape worms in my dog's stool, took the sample in and then a tech left a message on my phone after hours stating that they tested for every other type of worm and that I should give her yogurt for bacteria growth....REALLY?! Dumb....won't be taking my dog back here. Oh yeah, and they misdiagnosed her ruptured disc....she's a dachshund. more

I question BAH's ethics. They provide unnessary producures at high prices to find NOTHING and they know it. I heard good things about them, so I am sorry that my experience, as a concerned pet owner, was that they were more concerned about making a buck then what was best for my pet like more trauma going through their hurtful and scary procedures. more

After years of going to another vet and hearing friends of mine telling me that the treatment & prices did not sound right. I finally went to Belcaro and saw Dr. Herman. Wow! What a difference. I should have done my research & listened to my friends earlier. I would have saved a lot of money & my pet would not have had to go through unnessecary pain & testing. They know their stuff & CARE! Pros: Solid vet care & great customer service Cons: you may need to wait 5 min because they are so busy more

I have taken my dog to this practice twice since switching from Urban Vetcare (never again!). Dr. Yrisarri is absolutely the best vet I have had in years. He is very knowledgeable, but also willing to admit when a specialist might be warranted for further information. This practice is also extremely affordable, which is great considering how wonderful their vets are (I'd be willing to pay a lot more for the great care they take of my dog). If you are looking for a new vet, or moving to the Denver area, I would highly recommend this practice. Pros: Expertise, experience, friendly Cons: None so far more

Dr. Eikenberry was an excellent veterinarian. However, sadly, he is gone now. He will be fondly remembered. more

These guys are the best. They definitely care about your pets and the convienience of their owners. Their prices are also very reasonable. I've been to many of the more well-known (and pricey) vets around town and these guys beat them all. more

This vet clinic came highly recommended to me from a person I met in Denver after just relocating to the city. We have two dogs, one a rescue, and they enjoy going to the vet here! Dr. Mike Herman actually got on the floor with my rescue Jack Russell to earn her trust (and he did). Wow!\r I have a friend who delivered water to vet clinics around Denver and he says it is by far the cleanest vet clinic from a vendor's perspective of entering the back door. \r I confirm that the prices are very reasonable for a city vet. I was surprised. They even make treatment plans and use 3 year vaccinations so your dog can be seen less frequently! Pros: clean, professional, out-of-the way care/attention for special needs Cons: popular, so may have to schedule out a couple weeks more

I have been taking my German Shepherd to Belcaro for the last 2 years. they are outstanding. They care about the dogs well being and follow through to make sure she is healthy. They spend time with you making sure you understand the treatment and are outstanding in all aspects of how they run there business. Thank you. I have been taking my animals here for the past 10 years. The service level and knowlege of the vet's is great! They are so good to my dogs and are always able to fit us in if we don't have an appointment. I live on the other side of town- but Belcaro is worth the drive! more

The entire staff at Belcaro has been warm, welcoming, and very professional during the four years I have been transporting greyhounds to them for their spay/neuter, dental cleaning, and vaccinations (they even perform fecal tests, nail trims, Frontline, etc. when needed). I have been so impressed with their caring and wonderful attitudes that when I adopted Jack, Belcaro was the clinic I chose because I trust them implicitly to take care of his health needs. I just moved to this side of town and discovered belcaro today. I met Dr. Joe who was a really nice vet and seemed to absolutely love my dog. The prices were decent and the location is great. The palce seemed really clean and there wasn't much a wait to get in. My only complaint is the lady with the curly hair who checked me in. She was not very nice and didn't seem like a dog lover. Pros: great vet Cons: not too impressed with the check in person more
