BEKINS NORTHWEST WILL ROB YOU BLIND AND SEND THIEVES INTO YOUR HOME!\r
They coordinated a move for my family from Las Vegas to Phoenix and had a subcontractor, (A-1 Movers) do the move. They said we'd save money by packing ourselves- close to $2000.The subcontractors came in and told us that since we packed ourselves, they aren't as responsible for the contents-I had to stand there and demand that they be careful all day. The 4 laborers who showed up to work were supposed to let us go to the scales and see the weigh in of the truck- but claimed they knew nothing about it, so immediately, the move started out ""off"", but we didn't know what to do. The workers smoked and drank energy drinks all day- tossing trash into my yard that my son ended up picking up.We called our contact Cheryl, but couldn't get ahold of her. We were expecting an empty truck, but it was full of items that didn't look like packing supplies, and as the day went on- we didn't use, either. Later in the day, the head guy , Lloyd pulled a stereo system off the truck from someone else's move (I assume) and said that ""I'll sell it to you for $500."" So, the truck was not empty when it showed up.My husband and I were blown away with how shady this whole situation was. When I showed interest in the big rig on behalf of my little boy- instead of being kind, the driver asked me to ""ride along"" with him to Phoenix-because he has ""tons of room in the cab""-a proposition that was highly inappropriate.I tried to laugh it off, but it was uncomfortable. I could hear the crew going up and down my stairs and had asked them to lay down carpet protection, but had to force them to lay out protector rolls since they were ruining my carpet with dirty work boots and when they did-they actually got upset! This is when items started to break. They put a huge gouge in my bannister with a dresser, and said it was a paint nick, then one of them gouged the leather of my theatre seating and blamed it on my declawed cats. When I protested, and said that my animals were declawed, they knew they were busted but said they would ""add it to the list."" They knew that we had purchased the insurance and that in order to get anything fixed- we would have to cough up a $1000 deductible. WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER IS THAT WHILE YOU THINK YOURE HIRING PROFESSIONALS, YOURE ACTUALLY HIRING THE CHEAPEST DAY LABOR BEKINS CAN FIND TO DO THIS WORK. THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR BELONGINGS ANYMORE THAN THE CRACKHEAD ON THE CORNER. THE ""CATASTROPHIC"" INSURANCE YOU THINK YOU WONT NEED IS A NECESSITY WHEN DEALING WITH PEOPLE LIKE THIS BECAUSE BEKINS MAKES HOMEOWNERS PAY FOR THE MULTITUDE OF MISTAKES AND OUTRIGHT THIEVERY OF THESE UNTRAINED, UNLICENSED , UNPROFESSIONAL, DAY LABORERS WITH LITTLE TO LOSE, AND EVERYTHING TO GAIN. \r
Our move cost us just under $5000, including $380 for insurance we were led to believe we would NOT need BY BEKINS UNLESS THE RIG JACK-KNIFED or CAUGHT FIRE. YOU NEED INSURANCE, but get the kind with little OR NO deductible. WATCH THE MOVERS LIKE HAWKS AND INSIST ON EVERYTHING YOU WANT IN WRITING. IF ANYTHING IS NOT WHAT YOU WANT- DON T TOLERATE IT. OUR MOVERS LIED ABOUT NOT TAKING LUNCH BREAKS ( they did), TRIED TO CHANGE THE PRICE, ETC. \r
\r
It's been 10 days in our new home and WE ARE VICTIMS OF BEKINS NORTHWEST AND A-1 . THESE COMPANIES ARE SHAMEFUL, AND DO NOT DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS OR YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY.\r
We've discovered several things broken, missing and stolen, including our son's piggy bank which contained $418 from his CubScout fundraising and allowance over the past two years. What type of people steal from children? \r
I brought everything to the attention of BEKINS NORTHWEST and A-1 MOVERS and was promised resolution- but NOTHING came of this.AS FAR AS BEKINS IS CONCERNED- THEY GOT THEIR MONEY, SO TO HELL WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE. \r
