I can only second the review above. The menu is very limited (calling it Beirut, I would have expected more choices than the staples of Middle Eastern restaurants). The chicken ...

great food! 2/9/2009

Fresh and homemade in a nice setting that's still casual and kid-friendly. Great service, and some of the best Middle Eastern food I've had in the Cities. Pros: the food Cons: nothing more

Exquisite Food and Elegant Entertainment 6/6/2008

If you enjoy food that looks beautiful, tastes exquisite, smells wonderful, makes people feel good, as well as brings people together-then you will treasure this dining experience. My husband and I left the restaurant completely full after enjoying Beirut's Ameer combination dinner (Falafel, chicken kabob, and lamb with bread and tubule salad, mezza (a generous sample of numerous signature dishes). We also tried the kibee (beef with lamb served raw) and sampled the baklava and enjoyed some nice strong Lebanese coffee. I was floored by the quality of the meals. ABSOLUTELY delicious. We will definitely return and next time we'll bring our kids. We loved the belly dancing and live music. I was very impressed with the feature dancer who was so beautiful and talented. She engaged the audience and really invited everyone to share her dancing. We also loved the in-house band. WOW! The lead singer (John) really has a great voice-makes me wish I spoke Arabic so I could understand what he was singing about! My one criticism? Stay away from too many Araks (it's an alcoholic beverage popular as Lebanon's #1 cocktail) whew! I love the taste of black licorice but after a few sips my head was spinning. Pros: Top notch food, friendly service, beautiful dancing and live music Cons: Large groups have an automatic gratuity. Mixed drinks and beer from the bar's a little pricey. more

OH SOOO WONDERFUL - GARLIC LOVERS DREAM 10/12/2007

Years ago-The Port of Beirut, we always called it ""the Port"", name changed, but still the most awesome food for the garlic lover in me.\r I served there about 18 years ago & owner Joe was a wonderful cook who obviously taught his son well, wife Rita always had warm smile, nice family run business. \r I see a reviewer's chicken was dry, must have been a rare bad night for the cook. I have never had a bad meal. While there one Wednesday for dinner, I saw a couple I used to wait on! They still go EVERY Wednesday to this special place.\r Fri & Sat nights packed, but worth reservation and/or wait. Belly dancer at 8 on Fri & Sat, 2nd show Sat at 9 with live arabic music! Wonderful atmosphere.\r My office is nearby so go for lunch at least twice monthly, many co-workers now hooked & nothing but good reviews from them.\r My fave lunch, the Byblos-a combo of Shawarma(also known as gyro meat but way better than Dino's) and Falafel, MMMMmm! Always must have the fresh flatbread & garlic. Kabob meals are hard to resist, as the rice they serve with is sooo delicious, moist, buttery, must try!\r Never a Tabouli fan (though my friend liked it) so I always substitute the house salad which is another garlic lovers dream (but whomever made it yesterday for me went a little nuts on the salt, my one slighlty bad experience in 20 years : ) My friend yesterday had the meat pie, said it was really delicious. I got my usual fave with a side of rice that was so huge I shared it with the group much to their delight.\r Can't say anything bad about this place, Joe seemed to have a passion about his food, I remember him yelling to get the food out the split second it was up, ""Yella-Yella""(hurry) he was very concerned about the quality of his food, putting his heart into making it-I could see why he did't want a server bringing down the quality by letting it cool! Baklava was oh so wonderful, haven't tried it lately though, next time I go I'll for sure save room for it! I believe Rita homemade it. Pros: Good portions, delicious stray from your normal fare Cons: only bad breath from all the garlic I eat there! more

Best authentic lebanese food 8/31/2006

I go to this restaurant a lot because it's close to home, but if I lived a distance away, I would certainly travel, for it's that good. I always get excellent food, friendly/great service, and never have to wait. I have lebanese relatives and I can get take-out and bring it home to serve them a wonderful meal. They package it in a way that it stays piping hot until you are ready to eat it. \r \r This is my favorite lebanese dining spot, and by far the best place to eat on S. Robert Street!\r Pros: Perfect authentic lebanese food, fast, friendly service Cons: Can't think of any more

Good place but not great 9/21/2005

Simillar to the other reviews, I went there on a weeknight my fiancee and other than the staff, we were the only people there the whole time. So if you want a nice quiet romantic dinner this is the place. I can't say anything bad about the food but it wasn't anything out of this world either. I suppose after having tasted some of the best lebanese food ever, compliments of my brother in law's mother from beruit, nothing can really compare. Still I tried to have an open mind but still was not too impressed. So like I said it's a good place that's worth a try but it's up to you if you want to go back. Pros: very quiet, nice staff, decor was cool Cons: food wasn't special, plus it was a bit , over priced more

Yummy, fresh 5/13/2005

I have been to the Beirut on several occasions and never had a bad experience. I love the hummus, and garlic sauce. Lamb and Chicken is very good. A family owned and operated restraunt from a family that fled Beirut. Authentic cuisine and friendly staff. Recommend reservations on a Friday or Saturday night there is a belly dancer on these night for a short time. Pros: great service, fresh food more

Nothing special 5/13/2004

I can only second the review above. The menu is very limited (calling it Beirut, I would have expected more choices than the staples of Middle Eastern restaurants). The chicken kabob was very dry, the gyros was ok, but there are lots of places around town where you can get that. Empty on a Thursday night at 8. Good service. Pros: service, parking more
