Over the last year and a half, I have spent several thousand dollars at Bedrock Boulder, so when I had another project, riprap on my sloped lot, I was prepared to give them thousands more. I called to get a recommendation for a contractor to do this and was told I would have to come there to get that info. It's 50 miles round trip, but I figured they would be helpful. I was given some business cards and the top one was for a landscaper specializing in turf so I said that is probably not a good one. The person there said that they do everything and so I said my experience with people who ""do everything"" are not the best for most things, and the response I got was ""I guess you know it all"" and the person walked out of the building. (I guess I was right about the contractor since his phone is disconnected.)
OK, so we'll look at the rock while we are here. I then asked about price and coverage and got a run around that the coverage was less for riprap but couldn't get a reason why after several tries. She then suggested we could use block but you could only go up three feet without a permit. I questioned this because it's not a wall, but more like ground cover. I got a snippy ""you need a permit for everything"" response. I tried again to explain it wasn't a wall and got another ""you need a permit for everything, including windows"" which was apparently supposed to be meaningful. When I asked to speak to or contact the person she worked for the response was always ""I'm not going to tell you"".
This level of rudeness is unusual, especially in the current economy. My wife who was with me suggested maybe the rock business is a lot better than the rest of the economy. I don't know if the management of Bedrock Boulder cares about losing a customer because I have no way to contact them, and they have certainly lost me as a customer, as well as all the people who ask where I got my rock in my yard. I went there for help and got rudeness.
By the way, the California Secretary of State says that their corporation registration is suspended.
Pros: Selection
Cons: Unhelpful and rude
