Beckett Family Rentals

My advice for anyone renting from Beckett is DON'T! They will seem like the perfect landlord and promise you anything......until you sign on their dotted line. If you have problems with maintenance, not returning phone calls, saying they are going to do something and don't, PLEASE KEEP A RECORD OF EVERYTHING. Write it down, keep it on your phone and keep all their threatening letters and most of all your money receipts. Because trust me you will need them all. These people are thieves and slumlords. Call GR Housing Commission!!!!! Call Legal Aid they are there to help you with these kind of people. And trust me they know all about the Becketts. You do not have to live like this there is HELP. \r more

We have utilised the professional services of Becketts Property Management since 2010 and have been delighted to have finally found a property management service which has consistently demonstrated the highest degree of integrity, honesty and accountability. Any issues are dealt with promptly and efficiently with minimal fuss and they have exceeded our expectations on many occasions in going above and beyond what is normally required. we have been renting from beckett for less than 3 months now and already received papers stating they have unpaid property taxes from 2010 and that the house we rent will be in foreclosure and forefeiture in less than 30 days. i just moved my family in and now i have to worry if we will have a roof over our heads in less than a month!! i'm thinking their not so christian!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

I found out that I only have months to live due to cancer. My wife couldn't take it so she left me, and now I have no one. I needed a place to live near the hospital. When I walked into the Beckett's office, I could feel something special about them. One of the leasing agents took me out and helped me find a nice apartment, but more than that, he prayed with me and cared. I hope I can be healed and stay with you, Beckett family! I live in a 3-unit building. I was having issues with one of the families downstairs. They kept having parties and keeping me up all night! I decided to call maintenance, hoping they would do something about it. They handled it the very next day! That's what I call great service! Now I can sleep again! Thank you for making this a top concern Beckett family!! more

Our family has been with the Becketts for 2 years. We live in a 3 bedroom home. I lost my job and my wife can't work because we have small children to care for. I looked everywhere for a new job. There are no jobs out there! We had to move out of our home. We are moving out of the state and staying with family until I find a new job. Thank you for treating us so well during these very dark days and caring for our family. We hope we can come back to rent from you again. Thank You!! more

I'm a single parent, and I just got my 2 boys back. I lost a job that I had for 10 years and couldn't have my boys unless I had a home!! I found the beckett group and things started to get better. The lesaing agents worked so hard to make things work for me. They found me a nice clean home to bring my boys home to. I now work full time, praise God, and have a home. My boys love it! When I decided to find a new landlord because I was wanting to rent a home, my friends told me to call Beckett Property Management and highly recommended them. So I did!! It's been four years I have been with them now. I will not ever leave them. Now my family is all renting from them - 2 sisters, my mother, my grandmother, etc. We love the family, and love how they treat us like we're part of it!! :D more

I have rented a 1 bedroom apartment for 2 years from Beckett Property Management. I went through some bad times and lost my job a few months ago. I called in the office to tell Angie and Robin right away. They showed so much concern and said they would be praying for me. They also helped me find help through an angency that paid my rent for 2 months until I found a new job. I would have been in a shelter or on the streets if they hadn't helped me - I didn't know what to do. This has never happened to me before. Thank you to the whole Beckett family for your kindness and concern. I want to be part of your family!! more

I had an awesome time working with the Becketts while searching for a new place to live. They were extremely helpful in all situations. I have been a tenant in one of there rental homes for nearly a year now and I love it. I would recommend the Becketts to everyone! more

I wish my only issue as a current tenant with Beckett was with our refrigerator like the gentleman below and not with our stove, furnace, faulty electrical wiring, faulty plumbing, or the never-ending other issues we've dealt with or are currently dealing with. This has been the most frustrating and disappointing experience I have ever had as a renter nor do I believe any of the positive experiences posted below me. more

I am a current tenant of Beckett's. While I really enjoy the neighborhood and neighbor's, the upkeep and maintenance really sucks. Recently I waited three weeks for them to replace my refrigerator, and it wasn't until i threatened to take legal action did that get done. I don't believe I will be renewing my lease when it is up. more

So the last two entries were becket employees.. Whats amazing is yes it may be old employees saying these things. But to my suprise, in 2010 you hired and fired 76 employees according to the complaints agains you filed at the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth office. Becketts, you have not paid one cent to the Unemployment Insurance Agency and currently owe the city of Grand Rapids tens of thousands of dollars.\r \r Look folks, these guys are in trouble and by no means are they a stable business. And Christian??? yea right.\r \r You want to know who they really are, just go to the 61st court record search website here in Grand rapids and search becket in the business name section and then search individual names... Anna, Josh, Mike, Robin and more then put Beckett in the last name.. yup thats right thousands of courts suing them, everything from banks to employees to tenants. \r This is a free search anyone can do it. so I suggest you do before you rent, or take a job. \r \r Please dont use their unlicensed investment company either. Its a ponzi scheme to put money in thier pockets. \r \r Ps keep an eye on the news channels... Myself and 17 others were just interviewed for an upcomming story.. hint hint.\r more

I loved having so many options on rental properties! I was looking for a 3 bedroom single family home and was shown 4 properties all of which I loved... it was hard to pick my favorite because they were all so great! Pros: Helpful people, great properties more

they promise the world and delivery nothing \r they run the maintenance crews on a band-aid and boogers budget. the owner josh the almighty has a business ethic like dominos pizza if he cant fire someone in thirty seconds or less he will cut there wage. SLUM LORDS. This group has countless rentals and takes care of 0% of them. When my roommates and I signed our lease we never could have imagined what a scam we were getting ourselves into. They DO NOT take care of their properties they do not take care of their renters. They take advantage of lower-income families by offering them ""superb housing,"" and them treating them poorly! We went to look out our rental several times before signing the lease. Each time we asked ""...it will be cleaned up before we move in.. right?"" response: ""Of course, of course we turn over all of our places before your sign date, blah blah blah lies lies lies"" The place was so filthy when we moved in we couldn't even sleep here the first few nights, we had to argue continuously with their ring leader- Robin Beckett to get the place even remotely clean. She told us again and again ""we pride ourselves in being the best landlords in the city- your place is immaculate- there was nothing left behind.."" and eventually she said ""You're right/we're sorry/we'll work on it."" Then comes in the most embarrassing cleaning crew- unlicensed, unprofessional, incompetent people who didn't do a thing. AND the best part about it is, they keep $200 of your deposit- no matter what. EVEN THOUGH THEY DONT DO A THING TO PLACE WHEN YOU LEAVE. They say they need that to do all the regular stuff when people move out- AKA CLEANING! My apartment was left in way better shape after when I left than when I moved in. They should be PAYING ME for the work they should've done. RIDICULOUS. THEY ARE THIEVES! Stay away from the Becketts! Or, move into one of their places and IMMEDIATELY call inspection services! THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!!! more

This observation comes from my experience as a close neighbor of a property owned by Beckett. I cannot comment directly on their quality of service, however they seem to not bother about screening renters properly nor actually fixing the property up as they claim. They snatch up foreclosures at bargain basement prices, throw some paint on them, and call it done. Crumbling roofs, mold and larger issues that would be caught by traditional inspections are ignored. Tenants don't care about the property upkeep and maintenance, fill the yards with waste, let alone ""neighborly conduct""- and it becomes a blight in the neighborhood. If they have rules in that regard, they aren't enforced. Please know that this is not a comment on renters in general but on the few that I've experienced. Seems they are more concerned about making money short-term off of people desperate to rent somewhere than improving lives, homes and neighborhoods- which they are in the position to do if they did it right. Unfortunately now I'm seeing their signs everywhere. Something stinks here... It's really unfortunate and I have a feeling this bubble will burst someday as it will only get worse with the addition of more properties. Pros: May be easy to rent from but.... Cons: Bad for renters, bad for neighborhoods more
