Do not rent from Beaver Bay Powersports!
I will start by stating that the Polaris Snowmobile they rented me was nice, clean and I did enjoy riding it, as long as I stayed within its parameters, ie - 30 mph.
Customer Service Stopped as soon as the contract for rental was signed. On the day of Rental, Beaver Bay Sports Shop opened 15 minutes late. The Snowmobiles weren't warmed up, and I had a group waiting for me. We were not underway until 0945, which is a big deal when the sled has to be returned by 5 P.M.
Mike W. (Owner) twice confirmed that I was renting a Liquid cooled sled. On the trail I was not keeping up with any of my riding companions, including my niece on a late 90's AC. I met my group in Tofte, and we determined that the Polaris was a fan cooled. I called mike to confirm that he had rented me the correct sled. Mike then escalated the conversation and became insulting and aggressive. "If you don't like the sled, bring it back. But you aren't getting another one!" Instead I rode the rest of the day by myself. I met my group in GM for lunch and then rode the rest of the way back to the shop alone, bringing up the rear of the group. When I say rear - I mean 3-5 minutes behind the group at any stop.
At the end of the day I had spent almost $300 at Beaver Bay Sports Shop and I received zero professionalism from the owner Mike. I am not sure how this type of person is able to stay in business. If I were to do this again I would have rented out of GM. The type of sled I was told I was renting was available there. I am an experienced snowmobiler, and I visit the North Shore often and this is the worst experience I have ever had regarding either.
