Nice stop for happy hour 7/26/2010

I live nearby and I recently discovered that they have a happy hour thats 3-6p but more importantly 9 to close. The Outer Richmond district is pretty sleepy so it's nice to see some good deals on drinks late. They've got some tasty craft brews, apps and whatnot on the happy hour menu. Check it out. more

Great views, okay food 7/15/2006

I stopped by for a drink and snack and the views were amazing, but parking was a bit difficult. We had quick seating and service but it took them forever to bring us our food after we ordered. I got the garlic fries which look like the ones at the zoo but weren't quite as good. The bread they give you would be great with soup or chili or something but was really bland by itself. They do have a huge selection of beers, however. more

park chalet 3/20/2006

what a great idea! a little restaurant with bar on the lower level and back side of the beach challet. i didn't have a full dinner but rather met a friend for drinks and appetizers. the outdoor seating with heat lamps was perfect for lounging, eating, drinking and smoking. the appetizers, especially the crab dish, was delicious. the service was friendly but we were there around closing time so not very many people. more

Beach Chalet Brewery & Restaurant 3/17/2006

The ambiance is great with live jazz during the weekend. The view is spectacular. It is one of the few restaurants in SF built along the beach and with windows all around to allow customers to watch the sunset. I’ve been there several times and would continue to go but probably for drinks and appetizers as oppose to a full meal. The food is mediocre at best even for pub food. It’s ashame though as the Beach Chalet is at such a great location. I give this a three star primarily because of the ambiance. more

Great lunch place for out of town guests 3/17/2006

I stumbled onto the Beach Chalet while showing some friends from DC around Ocean Beach, and I can't wait to bring my family when they come visit this summer. The menu is solid pub fare -- a nice mix of salads, sandwiches and entrees, plus a yummy selection of hand-crafted beers. But the real draw is the view... one entire wall is a floor to ceiling picture window offering a perfect vista of the ocean. Great location for outdoor dining/drinking 8/20/2005

Whoever thought to put this bar and restaurant here was genius. Tucked right between the edge of the park and the beach, it's a great place to hang out on the chairs outside on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The food is better than their sister restuarant upstairs, but the service at both is lacking. This is definitely one of those spots where the location and setting is the draw. If you're not in a hurry, this is a great spot. more

Romance by the bay. 8/20/2005

I've been here a couple of times, and there very consistent each time. They have a nice wine list, and offer a great range of food. There food is somewhat expensive compared to other high end establishments, but the view is quite breathtaking. I would recommend this establishment as one of the leading locations throughout the Bay Area, however if your on a somewhat tight budget, then there are other means of dining. more

This place is great for people who are upscale and have money. They have a awesome scenary. They play different music depending on the day of the week. For example, on tuesday, they play live jazz and another day, some blues. I love their dishes and the fine wine. The prices can be high depending on what you get. There are plenty of parking here. more

Waited over 30 minutes before we even got water 7/27/2005

My first experience here was very bad. We waited over 30 minutes after being seated, to even get a glass of water, after another 10 minute wait and still no server, we decided to leave. Although we never got to taste any food, the menu is the same as Beach Chalet, which is still a little over priced for your basic burger/ fish and chips. My second experince I never even tried to get seated inside, I opted for the bar-b-que outside on the lawn. The food was bog standard and very pricey, and my friends salmon was under cooked. I don't know how they haven't managed to iron out these little kinks yet. The decor of the place is fabulous and it has so much potential due to location, but still falls short. more
