Wonderful weekends!! 9/9/2009

We have had two great stays here already, and we plan to return again this winter. We have been comfortable, and the room was always clean and tidy. The hot tub is out of the line of sight of the main house, and was great after a day of hiking. We enjoyed walking out to the gazebo in the evenings to look out onto the bay, and we're planning to bring our kayaks next time to paddle right from the back of the property. We were saddened to see the very negative reviews posted by other folks...this is a cute place to stay, and the owners/caretakers were good to us and gave us complete privacy. It is a small and cozy spot, but that is part of the charm! We have had experiences at other accomodations in the area, and breakfast items were not included for twice the price of what we spend at Bayshore. It's nice to wake up and make breakfast at your leisure in the privacy of your room and not have to socialize with strangers in the common area of a larger inn. Plus, everything was fresh! We have been satisfied with each of our stays, and we look forward to going back! Pros: Close proximity to Point Reyes National Seashore more

Don't believe the website: this place is a DUMP 7/28/2008

I have never posted a review but feel the need to alert others that the advertising for this ""cottage"" is a hoax!\r \r There is nothing private about this room, which is tucked next to the carport of a large house and shares the yard with the house: no privacy at all! It is only romantic if you think tiny quarters filled with old junk is romantic.\r \r Now, I love quirky places, but this goes beyond quirky and into the realm of a dump. I highly advise you to LOOK ELSEWHERE if you want a clean, quiet and private get-away. There are plenty of other places to stay in the area: GIVE THIS ONE A MISS!\r \r We made the mistake of booking a weekend here, only to arrive, see what it really looks like, then immediately leave. Luckily, I had arranged before arrival for a full refund if we didn't like the place - also recommended if you feel the need to give it a try.\r more

A Huge Disappointment...... 7/16/2008

I've never posted a review on anything, but our experience at Bayshore Cottage was so bad, other people should know before they plunk down $150 a night for this place. Somehow, the website for this ""Bed & Breakfast' fails to mention that this is a very tiny studio and the ""Eurobed' is a uncomfortable, squeaky Murphy bed that effectively cuts the room in half when it's pulled down. But you'll need to move some furniture out of the way before you can even open the bed. There was no advertised 'down comforter' and the furnishings are very tired and dreary - think worn thrift store quality. Even the candles on the small dining table were dusty, burned down stubs. The kitchen area is tiny, with no room to work, and some of the appliances were located in areas you couldn't even plug them in! And the flatware that came out of the drawer was noticeably greasy and had to be washed before we could use them. The deck is also small and in heavy shade most of the day - there was a small cafe table and 2 chairs and two dusty lounge chairs you wouldn't want to use - certainly nothing like the B & B website photos. Hot tub is small but functional - but not truly private, as your view from the deck opens out to the owners backyard lawn and the monstrous house which is right next door. The gazebo on Inverness Bay has a lovely view, but it, like everything else here, is rough and beaten up - not a clean or comfortable place to hang out. There are many, many other nicer places to stay in Inverness and areas around Tomales Bay - this was the worst ""Bed & Breakfast' or vacation rental of any kind we'd ever stayed at. Unless you don't care about ambiance and comfort, don't even consider staying here. more

WORST place I have ever stayed 10/8/2006

This place was a total and complete dump. Little, dirty, spiders everywhere and their of a gourmet breakfast was juice and eggs that you cook yourself. It has a murphy bed that is lumpy, blankets that are old and torn, dogs that won't leave you alone. The only things we DID enjoy were the hot tub and the birds. The grounds are totally unkept and you need a machete to get to the gazebo that is so filthy and covered with spider webs that you can't even sit down. WAY overpriced for what you get. Do not waste your money. Pros: Hot tub Cons: Dirty, small, old and run down more
