Neat, old place with lots of character. On an old pier / dock with movable plastic doors all around. It is beside an old marina with a lot of sail boats and overlooks Massalina Bayou.
The place has heat but no A/C. When opened up it generally has a nice breeze but HOT days are indeed HOT.
Drive up or bring your boat (we have taken our boat dozens of times, it is always neat to have the drawbridge open for you) most of the time another customer or Kevin will help by grabbing a line.
The fellow diners are generally friendly and close quarters make it easy to meet the people at the next table. We have made several friends at Joes.
The place is as clean as you would expect from a probably 50 year old / wood plank floor / open air place. Anticipate the occasional bird to land and walk through the dining area.
The food is good. I enjoy it, but I have to admit I am certainly easy to please. I saw comments that it was pricey, but I do not really think it is. Their menu is here: http://bayoujoes.com
Come with expectations of decent food, a great view, laid back atmosphere, friendly people, watching the boats and birds, bath clothes as napkins and playful mouthy waitresses (Joyce fights with me most trips and I love it) and you WILL have a great time.
