My fiance was, until today, a resident of the Bayard House in Wilmington, Delaware. She gave birth to our beautiful baby girl almost 6 weeks ago. The staff at the Bayard House threatened to terminate my fiance's stay at the Bayard House about 2 weeks ago because they said they had problems with her attitude at times and none of the staff wanted her there. My question is this--Isn't attitude, good and bad, a common everyday part of each and every life??? Then when they had their weekly staff meeting they decided to keep her because they stated, ""we want you to be here"". Well, recently some things belonging to residents have been coming up missing so today staff decided to do a search of all the residents' rooms and personal belongings without the residents' presence (illegal search and seizure). Nothing that was stolen was found in my fiance's room or belongings, but staff did find a less than 24 hour old prescription belonging to my fiance for her bad toothache from a badly decayed tooth and 2 empty beer cans in a bag (sounds kind of bad BUT the cans were mine from over the weekend at the beach when I didn't want my fiance's aunt to see I was drinking). Then staff seized the bag with cans in it and the prescription (illegal search and seizure). Today my fiance was told she had to leave without being given her contractual 2 week notice to move. Now, not any longer than about 4 weeks ago another resident was out past Bayard's nightly curfew of 11:00pm. When staff found this out they called her probation officer and told them of it. The next day this girl was given a urine test and she tested positve for heroin. She was sent to prison. But get this, the head of staff within the Bayard House is fighting to get her back into the Bayard House as a resident (she actually came back this evening) because as the head stated, ""she's my favorite"", (not kidding!). Is this not a clear case of discrimination? I rest my case.
Pros: Somewhat clean considering it's in the middle of the slums,
Cons: Staff's full of lies, favoritism toward certain residents, descrimination, one of staff stole $5000.00 dollars from a resident at her last job(it's in public records).
