Buyer Beware! Hiring Bavohe Homes to remodel our tiny (6’X7.75’) master bathroom to be a handicap bathroom for my ill husband’s ease & comfort was the biggest mistake that I made in many years. On May 5, I paid 50% down ($4,085 of the $8,170 charged) & demolition began.
On May 28, after 3+ weeks of frustration with Bavohe, I asked Baron Von Heidelberger (Bavohe’s owner) to dissolve our contract. I had no confidence in Bavohe’s ability to satisfactorily complete the remodel & I was tired of monitoring their work. The tile work done on May 27 was the last straw (see pictures).
Baron apologized repeatedly, saying “I am sorry. I accept total responsibility. I am ashamed. I was absent from this job. This is not the way I run my business.” He told me that he would refund my money, asking that I only pay for the cost of materials excluding the cost of the tile ($300-$400). He went to his truck to get his checkbook. When he returned from his truck, he said that he would come back with a refund check for me in 2 hours. He picked up his tools, equipment, & unused materials & left.
5 hours later, Baron called saying that the work that Bavohe had done in my bathroom equaled $4,400. I asked if he expected me to pay him $315 more. Baron said that he would call us even by keeping my deposit of $4,085. I repeatedly requested a detailed accounting of the costs of materials & labor on my job. On June 3, Baron finally emailed a statement for $4,411 with no cost breakdowns (see pdf file). I have a great deal of evidence & am in the process of contacting the AZ Registrar of Contractors, 3 On Your Side, Porch.com, & as many other sites as I can to warn other consumers about Bavohe Homes.
