I first went to this guy on a reference from a friend, for a large battery to run sound equipment. Since then [five years ago], I've sent my entire family and circle of friends to him for any car battery. Today, after a free test at Advance Discount Auto Parts which stated "bad battery", we went back to him to get the next one, and ask for a proration on our less than two year old from him. He hooked up a simple hand-held volt-ohm/multimeter to it, claimed it did a load test just as the large machine at Advanced, and said the battery was good, and avoided the subject of proration or refund altogether. As my BS meter was peaking, we went on to Wal-Mart for a third opinion, they had the large, roll-around load test machine similar to Advanced, and told us the battery was bad also, so we proceeded to purchase and have installed [free] the new battery, and had it tested while there. Good. After returning home, I called Battery Outlet to let him know, in a calm tone, how he'd lost our business today. He stated that you cannot test a battery at what it's rated for, only for half the rating, and when confronted with the test on the new battery, he simply ignored it, and promptly hung up on me. If you need a battery with extra power to it, this may be the closest place to get it, just don't expect him to stand behind the product.
Pros: Friendly, down-to-earth guy, some high-quality products
Cons: Tries to BS the BS'er, so to speak, doesn't stand behind guarantees, rather sneaky
