ok. bataille is actually my dance studio! i have danced there since first grade and i am now in high school. bataille is often put down because at some competitions it does worse than some other studios. (we do better than others too!) i must say bataille doesn't believe that dance makes the world to round, so we only put one hour a week in per class (including competition teams) but, at some competitions, bataille has gotten into the top ten, recieved invatations to travel out of state for workshops, and gottten many gold/high gold and platinum awards for their performance. bataille is run by ms. dee dee gallagher-jhonson who took ms. leona bataille's place when she was around the age of 80 and was no longer able to run the studio. today, bataille offters a ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, lyrical, hip-hop, musical theater, and various competition teams... such as a ballet company (for 5-6th graders), a tap company (freshman high schoolers usually), regualar company (3rd grade-seniors in high school, which usually does a jazz performance), and next year they are thinking about adding in a hip-hop company. about every other year - 2 years, bataille performs for disney world also and has 3 competitons and a huge recital every year. our big recital is always mother's day weekend at hemmens cultural center. so call for tix now!!!
Pros: child-friendly, experienced, fun, very appropriate.
Cons: may need more space, some want more practices, kind of pricey.
