This is one of my favorites. I go here for all my hot dates and special events :) The mussels are my favorite. I always order the bread/olive oil, and their martinis are very good...

Worst

My friends and I would agree, we did not find much to be satisfied about our dinner at Bastas. The food was uncommonly bad: seafood didn't seem to be too fresh as did the quail...

LOVE the gorgonzola pasta and the breads! drinks are great and a nice selection. i always try to convince my boyfriend to take me to dinner there!! more

BASTAS IS THE BEST!! 6/4/2002

I've been going there for years, and I've NEVER had a bad meal, or bad service, or bad drinks. Prices are very resonable (for it's popular location) and their bread and food are wonderful! Marco, the owner, goes out of his way to see that his quests are treated respectfully and that they are promptly greeted and seated. These last two reviews must be from competitors because I've eaten almost everywhere in town and this is one the best meals and deals that can be found. Pasta dishes, Italian wines, desserts are great. P.S. Marco...Bring back the crab cakes. Pros: pasta, imported wines, atmosphere Cons: parking more

Too expensive, strange ambiance 5/27/2002

I read Portland-CitySearch's review and I was very disappointed with Basta's. Around 4 years ago, Basta's used to have great food and wonderful Caesar Salad's all at a good price. However I went this past weekend and it was way too expensive, the food was poor but the service was excellent. I will never go back despite the service. Their menu offers nothing.
