I have always wanted to own my own bookstore. I think it would be a dream come true to be surrounded by books on a daily basis. I like used books because for a cheaper price, you can get a great read. Unless a book is out of this world, I only read it once, so paying a little less for it is worth it. Plus after it's read, what's the point of holding on to it?
A friend told me about a store called Basically Books. All paperbacks are 50% off the cover price. You can turn in previously read books for 25% credit. If you build up enough credit you can get books almost free. They do charge a $.50 fee for each book because they have to make money somehow, but next to the library, I don't know anywhere you can get a book that cheap. I like their selection as they have always had every book I've gone in for. They do have new releases in hard cover and those you only get 20% discount on and you can't use credit, but it's still a great deal. I have gotten books in great shape there, almost brand new for 50% off the cover price. A hint: if there is more than one copy of a book, check the prices because sometimes a book will be printed more than once and will have different prices. I always check each copy and the older ones are sometimes cheaper.
